What are the signs that MPSC2 are near the end?

Sounds good, thanks for the advice, I'm gonna go for it. And we do sort of have a backup plan, since wifey is bringing her Cayman R, so we can ration the use of the cars based on tire wear, though the Cayman has Trofeo R and we didn't add the extra camber those tires want (planning to go back to NT01, unless the rumor I heard is true that NT01 production is ending), so I expect them to wear unevenly and will need to keep a close eye on them. Should be fun being able to compare the Cayman and GT3 back to back at WG!

Maybe someone will offer a better, more affordable alternative to the MPSC2 and Trofeo R? I don't understand why Toyo, Hankook, Yoko, or even Hoosier aren't making tires in these size. There is certainly a critical mass at the 20" sizes between all 911s, Ferraris, and even vette's now.

For those of you looking for replacement tires, but don't track your car, I highly recommend the Michelin Super Sports. I've used them on my last couple of Porsches and loved them. A great balance of performance vs durability. Tire Rack has them in stock.

What others said - it's plenty of life. At least 2 days for fronts and many more for rears. You can get 2-3 sessions after shoulder has no tread at all.

I tried them on the 997 and Cayman. Good up to 8/10ths, disintegrated beyond that. I believe that other track guys who've tried them with the 991 GT3 have reported similar experiences. Nice road tire, but I'll never again buy them for the track.

I've got the dunlops on now, they seem to have worn a lot faster than the mpsc2s. i'll get some photos but i have 1 track day, 3 autocrosses on them, and a couple of canyon runs and they are questionable for another full day at the track.

If anyone is interested in a slightly used set of the Dunlops, I've got them for sale in the RL marketplace for $1240 plus shipping. After only 117 miles, I swapped them for a set of MPSC2s due to the PCA autocross classification issue (a GT3 with the 80 treadwear Dunlops isn't considered street stock).
I'm in Massachusetts. If you're near New England, shipping costs are reasonable. If you're on the west coast, not so good.
