Assuming the GT3 RS motor picture is correct , its clear that the GT3 motors basic external design/ layout/ technical considerations was used as the bases and modified for the RS. Of course the internals are different. Makes sense to be efficient with engineering resources and forward design considerations.
I think i heard that the RS motor was all new? Doesn't seem so.
Would Porsche post a fake picture?
I don't know about the pictures, but there's no doubt some of the internal parts are different. I mean, it's a different displacement, no doubt has different cam timing, tuning etc. and multiple parts with different numbers. From a marketing standpoint it's useful to use the words "all new" but it's very clear the two engines are of similar design and layout and that the RS engine is an extension of the one in the GT3, not a sea change. The differences between the 9A1 in the GT3 and the Mezger are much greater than the ones between the GT3 and the new RS.
Word was that the engine in the GT3 would be the basis for the new Motorsport engine. Apparently, that's proven to be true.
