I thought the GT3 and driver acquitted themselves nicely. The GT3 is competing against a race track set up car with over 200 more hp and an excellent driver. Yet, the driver of the Viper wasn't able to to get the GT3 off his tail.
The drivers of both cars are outstanding.

Thank you Nick for posting in what (I think) should be the spirit of the forum. I enjoy the videos, but if everyone decides to dissect the poster's driving and offer just their critical opinion, pretty soon no-one will be willing to post any videos.

I agree. Every time I watch a video I critique the driving with the view of helping my driving. I just don't believe in posting critical statements on the forum unless they are requested, or it's done in a private message.

Ran Mid Ohio this weekend w/ NORPCA and had great fun w/ a late model Viper that just walked on me in the straights. Any car being able to pull from a 991 GT3 at speeds over 100 mph had to have serious horsepower. We ended up chatting in the paddock and learned his car wasn't stock, having over 700 hp.
Had some of the best fun I've had in a while at Mid Ohio. Later learned I was running w/ a celebrity, Ralph Gilles. For those that don't know who he is, he's the head of ALL of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. He made a cameo and couldn't believe what a sandbagger he was, so down to earth and just an every day guy! The fact he's got his footprint on the small marquee we all love and know called, "FERRARI" was just plain cool.

Let's assume two identical cars, with one car ahead by one second at corner exit (30 MPH). That is equal to a distance of 44 feet. As you go down the straight, assume a maximum speed of 120 MPH. Assuming the same one second gap, the car in front will now be ahead by 176 feet. Under braking, the process is reversed, and the gap appears to close, but will remain at one second.

Is that you John in the GT3. The Viper was biting at your heels. I'm not ready to "break out" the new GT3 yet at Mid Ohio. Bringing the 996TT next weekend with NNJR.

FWIW, I consider myself an average driver. However, I have had the pleasure of riding with Hurley Haywood (at Road Atlanta) and a couple of other top notch pro drivers. Both drivers in the second video did an excellent job of turning it into a two car race. The GT3 passed some very fast Porsche's including what looked like a 997GT3RS.

Excellent vidio. FYI, Ralph was responsible for brining the Viper back from the dead. Without him NO Viper. On top of that he is a REAL!!! car guy and is active in many grass root activities. He is also personally as nice a guy as you would ever hope to meet. Special.
About his car, It is fitted with an Arrow developed ECU and headers. All else is stock (don't know what tires are fitted) reputed HP is 695 at the crank - stock is 640.This is not even a T/A which has aero, shock and brake upgrades. All this for $105k MSRP.
These Cars are the best kept performance secret today.

The description under the (first) video talks about tires:
