Default Reinstalled seat, air bag warning light still on?

I took out my passenger seat on Saturday to work on some video gear in the back. After I reinstalled it the air bag warning light was still on.

Do I need to do some sort of reset? This is the first time I have removed a seat.

I believe at this point you will need to visit dealer to have it reset....did you disconnect battery before it was removed/unplugged?

What I thought.

Battery disconnect? Wasn't aware it was necessary.

Thanks for the tip.

Did you turn the ignition key while the seat was out of the car with the battery connected? That will cause a code.

Not only that, I also drove it with the seat out.

Gotta get me a code reader/reset box. Any recommendations?

That was my experience with the 996 and 997. No need to disconnect the battery, just keep the key out of the ignition until everything is reinstalled and reconnected.

+1, if you turn it on, you need to clear the code, won't go way on it's own.

Will Durametric work to reset codes on a 991GT3 or do you need a PIWIS?

Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System (PIWIS) / KTS-650

The PIWIS is the latest Porsche diagnostic tool, and is similar to the Porsche System Tester 2 but also supports CAN-BUS vehicles. PIWIS also integrates repair manual information into the diagnostic tester. The PIWIS is only available on long term lease from Porsche for $12,000 per year.

The PIWIS is based on the Bosch KTS-650, but the software is Porsche specific. The Bosch KTS series supports some basic Porsche functions on Porsche 964, 969, and 944.

The PIWIS looks just like the KTS 650 except that it is grey instead of green.

Don't know if these Chinese knock-offs work. Anyone tried?
