The shorter tab solves the problem at highway mode (75-80) only. I noticed some forum posts that have talked about my kits looking ugly, cheap plastic look, old cost, etc.
The blackmill parts are 100% effective for eliminating wind buffeting effects at all speeds intentionally. Functional art. This is not an area where I'd want some flashy piece with improper surface design, and not fully tested to 150+ in all conditions.
Simple, subtle and functional was the design goal, and we nailed it. I personally love the look of the new parts and get props all the time.
Perhaps the wiper blade is ghetto but a taped on piece of aluminum that sticks out like a sore thumb is just as ghetto looking. To top it off, $130 for that piece of aluminum and double sided tape.
I don't think Mech33's design is ghetto at all! I invested $20 and had them on
the car in 15 minutes. Used 3M double stick moulding tape and they have
weathered the elements and no adhesion issues. Plus they only stick out about
a half an inch.
Don't get me wrong. Mech33's looks fantastic in comparison to the elephant ears (hfm that pic is perfect) and I'll probably do the same thing. $130 is absurd for a piece of bent aluminum and some double sided tape. At least AWE's is carbon fiber and a "replacement" part.
What boggles my mind is how in the world did this pass Porsche's quality control and was never fixed. IIRC all models are affected by this. I wonder if the .2 will have this issue as well.

This is my main issue as well. Did they really not test this above 100mph with the windows open?!
At the end of the day, you guys have plenty of options. I posted what the owner of Blackmill stated was the reasoning on why they can't be shorter.

Many of our competitions offerings are shorter by mistake in my opinion, some online videos even prove that shorter designs don't work at high speeds. Don't fall for "white nose" disclaimers.

Thanks for the comments / opinion. Perhaps the Blackmill version has to be so large because the "airfoil" is at the trailing edge of the plastic triangle where it meets the window cavity? That's definitely a different boundary condition for the foil. My $20 rubber wiper version that mounts at the leading edge has been tested up to ~120 mph at Laguna Seca with zero buffeting issues so far. I'll test it up to 140 mph in about 2 weeks at Thunderhill. Fingers crossed.
I simply use a small flat piece of plastic from my battery tender packaging. Just cut it with scissors, 2 in x 5in long. When at track, open door, hold in place, shut door. Works great!!!! When done, throw them in the glove box

Revival here...I'm looking to replicate what you did with the wiper blade piece and only have found one photo that loads.
Do you have any more pics or description you can post of what you used?
It looks nicer than the $140 piece of bent aluminum with VHB tape on it too!

I decide to try Mech33's idea! Great idea and very inexpensive! All you need is the wiper blade,
scissors, Double sided tape with foam center, and some rubbing alcohol to clean the surface.
I took it out for a 110 mph trial with only the driver window down and NO BUFFET!

One thing I like about this wiper fix is you can take it off and put it back on anytime you want to. I now have the Blackmill product, Although the Blackmill product is less ghetto IMO, i do have some regret in not being able to easily take it off or on.
