My 997.2RS had buckets, and I had no wear problems in four years. As mentioned earlier just avoid sliding across the top of the side bolster. takes a little doing but you get used to it.

The real area of wear concern for me is the Alacantara Steering wheel.

My 7.1RS has really bad pilling of the wheel now. On the 7.2RS i had ordered a thicker OEM wheel, and used gloves when I tracked. (not a big fan but got used to it). As a result there was zero wheel deterioration.

I actually get someone to do a side bolster protection. Make it out of leather and imitates the stitching and you cant tell the difference. I could send a picture if that is of any interest?

Back in 2010 I bought a pair from YseanY and they worked well.
They were too small for the LWBS so I decided to make up a new pair to fit the LWBS. Not cheap! Material alone was $200 + labor to stitch up 2 pair $550.
Worked great!

Just enter the car as if it is a jetfighter. Support upper body by leveraging elbow on roof ( gently but firmly..of course!)...put right foot in by gas pedal...hover slowly until in position then.....drop slowly into
place pulling arms and left leg into cabin.

Wow...is it also required that you wear a flight suit and use name "Maverick"? Thats quite a process to get in LWBs, mine is as others have discussed but of course we also can't do inverted 8G maneuvers?

I'm not sure about the elbow part but I think holding on the roofline/door sill may be the key -- I'm going to try this.
