Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust for 991 GT3

Does anyone here plan on getting this exhaust system? It's a lot more money than other systems out there and I want to gauge if people think I should be considering getting one when their are so many other options. It's hard to compare the Akrapovic to the other options though.

The Akrapovic that i am looking at is the full race system which comes with headers, cat delete, muffler and tips. It's filly titanium and is supposed to be engineered to give the car maximum horsepower by correctly tuning the exhaust for the car.

The GMG and Sharkwerks systems seem to be just straight piping to get rid of the factory muffler. They use stainless steel and are just muffler deletes and probably only really designed for sound.

The Akrapovic is $11,000.00 and the other systems are under $3000.00.

$11k buy a lot of tires, brakes, bottles of scotch, lap dances, etc....

Sharky seems more affordable

I am a huge fan of Akra, their products are almost works of art they are so well made and I happen to love the tone from Ti. I can't justify that price though (same for their exhausts for other cars). My plan has been to buy lightly used an you can save a lot. Not a liquid market for these but they will pop up in a year or two. Shark till then.

Akrapovic is a great system for the 991 GT3. Anyone in the SoCal area who is interested can come by our facility to hear our customers car.

Akra quality is second to none - period. If you've got the money go for it. Likewise if you're a track junkie it could be worth it. Not for me though as that 30+HP is above 8000 rpm and you're not going to realize that around town. I doubt if I'd really notice the extra power at those revs either, my hair would already be on fire!!
Must have some form of noise enhancement in my book but not $11k's worth.

Do we know if that Akra dyno compared their system to the stock exhaust with or without the sport exhaust button engaged? I asked them about that through their web site a few months ago and they have yet to respond. Also the Akra graph (stock and Akra) appear to show significantly higher numbers than Money's thread from a few months ago that used the Sharkwerks bypass. Are there any real apples to apples dyno comparisons out there anywhere??

Quality is clearly first rate; however, not sure about the sound quality and long term effect on the engine even if the system doesn't throw a check engine lamp.

The quality of Akra is amazing but it's an exhaust that sits out of site. No way I'd pay that much unless it did something that the other exhausts out there don't do, which it doesn't.

I'd pay that for the increase in torque and power they are showing--if they would tell me that's an increase over stock with sport exhaust button engaged. Otherwise --no way.

Akra is one of the few that can be trusted with dyno results so I would call it an apples to apples run on the same dyno. Based on the shape of the curve, I'm assuming it was PSE activated on the stock run and part of the gain is clearly the way the valves work stock has improved the performance uplift as you see it at 3950 rpm.

Does it snap crackle and pop when you lift? I need that in my life and am willing to pay.

Yeah in that regard my 991 C4S had a much better PSE than the GT3.

Yeah, not really a GT3 exhaust attribute. I'm thinking of getting a Targa GTS to take care of this need.
