Three Wheelin'
It's a private "country club" race track complex outside of Palm Springs, CA. Members only. Mega expensive to join and annual dues. Membership requires (I think) you to build a custom garage (multistory, many sq ft) on site. It's adjacent to the Thermal airport.
Their business model appears to be: Fly your Gulfstream/Bombardier/Falcon into the airport. Go to track, take your 918/P1/LaFerrari out to play on the track for the day. Return to airport, fly back to your home. That may be a bit of an exageration - I imagine some people fly in on turboprops and drive Lambos. I think it's essentially similar to the Monticello track in upstate NY, and I think there's a similar track somewhere in the Midwest as well.
The track has been open now for about 1.5 years. There was an event there last year for people who'd ordered 918's to meet the car. BMW has a driving school there, similar I imagine to Porsche's in Birmingham. They haven't finished track construction, but presently have two separate but connectable circuits. When they build out the third I think they expect to have about 4.5 miles of track available.
Since I have ZERO chance of ever becoming a member, I jumped on an opportunity to go out there. I doubt I'll get the chance again.

Thermal is cool, but not really my cup of tea. I wanted to join in on the track day tomorrow, just because having that many GT3's and instruction would have been awesome, but I have obligations I can't get rid of tomorrow and had to drop my spot.
I did a Mercedes-AMG event at Thermal for the new AMG GT S. The track was a bit boring to me. Was not as fun as Chuckwalla, but the facilities were top notch.
haha, yes! I think we met at the GT-R event at Laguna, not too sure.

Regarding Thermal, it's not cheap by any means but they do offer an LLC option for 4 individuals who can join on one lot with a corporate membership. Splitting it 4 ways makes a BIG difference.
