458's are good.... but very different to an RS.

Default Also in 458 camp

As a lifelong Porsche fan i too am decamping and going the Ferrari way. Instarted with Porsche in a used 944 and now that I can finally afford a rani find myself being subject to these games and this rs craze in making everybody look bad. Dealers who once held the line at charging above mSRP are being now changing their tune - using olbehavioe by other unscrupulous dealers as justification. Porsche has created hundred of potential car flippers through their 918 program. It's clear that Porscheis damaging their brand and I for one feel my love of the brand cars and people is making a shift to other brands that was unthinkable a few years ago

If indeed many 918 guys flip them it will drive the premium down. I bought my 2011 RS off the showroom floor. There were several to choose from. The hysteria over this model run is not needed.

Buy a 458 to play with and get an RS in a couple of years or a GT3. It's just a car.

Funny that folks claim Ferrari as the savior of the markup. Cali dealers were asking 40-80k over for a new Speciale. They play inventory/resale games better than anyone too.

Also agree wholeheartedly with earlier statement that GT3 and 458 are very different things. Drive before you buy and make sure it's what you are looking for.

I just took my 2011 458 to Ferrari of ATL in pretrade for a 488. 3500 miles priced at $210.
I owned it for 3 years a great car. IMO a fun toy priced about the same as an RS. IMO it's not soft. YMMV.

I am still wet my pants pumped, only one negative, I am a yellow orange fan, (my former Zanzibar, the 2008 RS, etc., my Boxster is racing yellow), so what's my negative? The posts questioning the Lava color are concerning. I have been trying to determine if striping helps break it up (there is a picture out there of a 991 RS with the 2008 RS stripe above the rockers, looks nice, also the 997.2 4.0 stripe with RS 4.0 and the matching hood stripe might be nice) - Thoughts?

Thanks

Update - for those on this ship, the vessel is the Rio Aysen, due into Rhode Island on 8/7 - my vehicle is use at the dealer now on 8/21 !!!!

Similarly fast around the track, yet a completely different feeling/emotional experience. Ferrari is more fun on the street. If I were to dedicate a car for track, it would be a Porsche.

Prices for the 991.1RS may not come down to around MSRP until the next best thing comes out...the 991.2RS. I'm not going to be late the party when that car comes out.

If I didn't get my allocation I was moving my 20 year brand loyalty and seriously looked at McLaren ...the new upcoming 570s on paper looks like a good option and priced around the same list price as the Gt3rs..
I saw the actual car at Goodwood was luck enough to be invited to the VIP area and saw a physical car and it was basically a baby P1...very nice interior and the special operations team representative I spoke to seemed to be quite willing to adjust many options to focus the the car for track duty...
Just another option to possibly look at

I would but a used McClaren if I wanted one. They have been taking some very large depreciation hits.

For everyone with a confirmed allocation that plans to order Lava Orange interiors, be aware that the 12 o'clock marking on the steering wheel is yellow. If you want a Lava Orange 12 o'clock marking to match your Lava Orange interior it will cost you an extra $325 per the configurator.

Hmm, is that new? I thought the LO marker was standard. Switching colors for that marking wasn't an option a month or two ago.

June 15th was when it was added to my build, probably become available around then as it was on my request list.
