Default 90dB @ Laguna Seca

I was at a private track event today at Laguna Seca. Only about 40 cars. 5 were 991 GT3s. We all got meatballed for sound in the first session. I was in 5th at about 5500rpm and got a 94.9. By the end of the day, 6 sessions, 3 of the 5 got their 3 strikes. I only got the one. Unfortunately, the only way to make sound is to shift in to 6th gear right after turn 5 and keep the rpms below 4000. It's painful going up the hill. Miatas can pass you. You almost don't even need to brake for the next corner.

As a point of reference, staying in the proper 3rd gear hits 102dB.

Does anyone have an explanation for why they have that rule? During other races there, ie Monterey Historics, the cars are deafening.

A bunch of people bought houses in the area and then started to complain about the noise.

Got to love those types...buy a house near a race track then complain it's too noisy..
Another fine example of "people suck".

Just like the pit lane button on the RS the 3's should all have a Laguna Seca "mute" button for after turn 5!

Wonder what the Sharkwerks guys are doing? Bananas in the tailpipes?

Yeah I drove there last month. I mounted the Cargraphics "Quiet" tailpipes but they didn't help enough, still got meatballed. I think the only way to pass would be turnup pipes + supertrapps.

I was told (so no idea if this is true) that they are only allowed to hold a certain number of events per year at an unlimited dB level so all other events have to comply with local noise requirement.

They should all be murdered, heads cut off and be made an example off. You know, to protect all other tracks.
