Default Gt3 RS Rev meter

Here is a snap shot of rev indicator in RS. I still think that 9k is so special

I wonder if it's significant that the red markings actually start at 8500 on the RS tach, and then go solid at 8800? The GT3 tach has no red markings at all until 9K.

I love to know that too, but I guess we won't know it until someone gets his hands on it.

Mike. The Cayman GT4 tach shows the red starting at 7600rpm and they say the redline is at 7800 rpm but in the videos I saw of the tach it looked like it really didnt rev out to 7800 rpm....bizzare....

Mark, it's like yeah technically you could rev to 7800 (or 8800 with the RS) but there's no point. It is kind of bizarre...

Pure speculation here, but I wonder if it means the car never revs above 8,500 in auto?

Peak power is never at redline, shifting should be just before peak power. These cars are going to fly. A few hundered RPMs here and there won't make a difference in a blind taste test.

No, shifting needs to be after peak power, not before. You want to ride up and down over the power peak to maximize total area under the used power curve. Shiftin pre-peak will just make you accelerate more slowly.

If peak power is at 8250 and the car shifts at 8500, I would suspect the engine will be grossly underperforming. 200 RPM less may not be that big of a deal but 700, esp with where peak hp is, is a lot. I am starting to have second thoughts and the lack of the expected EVO interview bothers me. I may, just may, stay with the "plain" GT3 with Trofeo-R tires. At least my car has extended warranty.

Gotcha, thanks. Still concerned and didn't notice the red shades on the RPM until this thread.
