Go to the dealer, and put down a small deposit to get on the list. You will be surprised at how many people do not accept a build slot when it is their turn. You may get a very late build slot, but you have a much better chance than you think.

Why?

1. Deposits at multiple dealers by the same person
2. Decides the car is not for him due to a variety of reasons
3. Change in financial status - no longer able to purchse a $180K car.

Than 991.2RS, it certainly wont be cheaper..

You can always trade in the 991.1RS.

He doesnt have a 991
so his question is

Should i buy a 991.1RS?

I cant answer telling him i wouldnt sell my 991 GT3
he doesnt have one

So the real question to him is

Why do you want to wait an hypothetic
991.2RS while currently a 991.1RS is available?

Not enough a 991 with 500hp 460nm? Any better new 991 around?
Do you want to wait 3 years risking no more NA for what
25 extra hp? Not worth waiting either considering
all the turbo winds around...go for a new RS or a used 991 GT3
both are a big improvement for your P garage

Thanks for all the feedback. Order was placed on March 23 for a GT Silver RS; November production, and December delivery. PTS is pending.

If, in fact, you do know, then how are so sure the future price premium won't be as significant or similarly "too high"?

Also, how do you know you will live long enough to see whatever future model Porsche has in its sights? Or, worse yet, how do you know you won't end up a paraplegic when/if the next great thing on four wheels comes from Stuttgart?

All kidding aside, that's just a roundabout way of saying unless you have a solid reason (ie financial or personal) for waiting, then there's no reason not to get the .1 RS (assuming of course you even want the car).

Good luck.
Yeah, you see, this is the exact kind of thinking that leads to very strong GT3 used car market. Everyone here, including me, is nuts

A big part of the issue (demand) is that Porsche does not produce GT3, and RS models each year. As a comparison, total 458 production (coupe, and spyder) is over 4,000 units per year.

Indeed. Once the 991.2 drops they'll pause for a year or two (that's what happened between the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0, the intro of the 991.1, and the 991.1 GT3).

Of course, the 991.1 GT3 engine fires / stop sale likely delayed the 991.1 GT3 RS a year, or half a year.

+1 and stop worrying about what you don't have. Life is short. Hence why I picked up a 991 GT3. If I get an RS and/or GT4....great....if not, oh well.
