Default Car up shifting in manual mode?

2015 GT3. 500 miles. Today car would upshift while in manual mode on its own. To the point that it would not met me downshift with paddle or stick.

Auto mode worked fine.

Anyone else with this issue?

No. Something is obviously wrong. Even if you had inadvertently been in auto when you thought you were in manual, you should always be able to override with the paddles. After shutting down and restarting, are you still having the problem? Sometimes a "re-boot" will clear things like this....

Default Auto shift

Cycled thru several starts and still does it. But but consistently or every time. Sometimes I can ride along for miles in a lower gear then it will just up shift as if I had put it in auto mode.

I even took video to show dealer. 😮

I hate intermittent problems, but it definitely sounds like you have one. The gearbox simply should not upshift on it's own in manual mode and you should always, in every mode, be able to override with the paddles. I wonder if whatever mechanism that engages manual mode when the stick is pulled to the left is intermittently faulty or not fully engaging.

Could be. The dash clearly said manual mode. And when I moved back over to auto both lights were on like manual override for about 10 seconds.

Will post resolution when I get it serviced.

That right there is an indication of a problem. When you move the gear lever from auto to manual and back to auto the indicator in the instrument cluster should go from D to M and back to D right away; both lights shouldn't be on.

The only time both lights should come on is if you're driving in auto and then activate a paddle. Both lights will come on for as long as you continue to use the paddles. If you stop using the paddles, after about 5 seconds the M light will go off and only the D remains.

Do let us know what you find out. Good luck.

This is happening on a 15 GT3 here that belongs to a good friend of mine both on the track and on the street. They are figuring out what's getting replaced this week.

It would be interesting to see how close the VINs are on the two cars.

His is 184106. The car when you plug in shows a tranny sensor fault. It doesn't throw a code on the dash. His car does it on the street and track. My car was built within 7 cars of his and mine doesn't do it at all. They have been trying to figure it out and at this point I think they are going to replace the transmission. I think it could be a bad sensor more so than the transmission.

From the beginning, from what I've heard, they seem reluctant to dig into these PDK gearboxes that are under warranty; just replace 'em. But if the sensor is at all reasonable to get to you'd think they'd try that first.
