^^That's a very fine outcome, about as good as could be.

It is...better than tranny trouble. It does put light on the long term reliability of the paddle micro switch though.

Anders- could you please PM me? I have a Jan 14 Delivery GT3 and it grabbed 3rd to 4th twice same spot on the track and has also had it happen on the street but very few times. My dealer knows nothing. Would love to get your work order or your dealer so mine can call yours. I was one of the motor swaps so you can feel my pain of all these defects! Frustrating. Thanks.

I think this is becoming a documented issue to the point that most dealers should know to first replace steering wheel.

I should have my car back on Tuesday and will post results as soon as I can.

Rennlist is such a great resource!

Mine (2015, production month 11/2014, vin ...183835, 1400 miles) started doing this today. Worked fine for two hours, then started shifting on its own from 3rd all the way to 7th, and unable to downshift. Calling dealer tomorrow.

For those that had their steering wheels replaced - did this totally resolve the problem? Thanks!

I bought RSR's GT3 and have driven the car with no issues for over 1,000 miles.

Awesome, thanks!

Met up with some awesome rennlisters today for a morning drive, and this started acting up halfway through the drive. Was concerned it was a more major problem that might require multiple trips back to the dealership, but glad to find the resolution is pretty easy & painless.

Anyone else confirms it's only the steering wheel?

Specifically it is the micro switch in the steering wheel.

I am not an electrical engineer so one may want to chime in here. Apparently there is too little shielding around the up shift switch and external electrical forces cause it to send an up shift signal.

For example passing a junction box at a specific place in the road or a power line.

When my dealership wrapped the area of the wheel in tin foil this did not happen!!!

I'm seeing this now, and my dealer is unaware of the issue. Wants to look at the fault codes (no errors appear when it's upshifting, so I'd be surprised if it had some codes). Did the wheel replacements work? Does anyone know if it's possible to disconnect the paddles separate from the airbag to work around the issue temporarily?

When they see such problems do they resolve it on a new car on the assembly line? My car is March 2015 production so not sure if this could happen sometime down the road.

Mine was a Feb 2015 delivery. This just started happening to my car this weekend at the track. I can't get it to happen in regular street driving. I was in auto, it switched itself to manual mode and started upshifting. Sometimes all the way to 7th, and usually mid-turn.

This is indeed a frustrating issue. I handed my car over to the dealer two weeks ago who was not able to replicate the problem over 40 miles, and returned to me. Said he did some calibration in PDK and if it continues, would do some calibration on the transmission.

On the ride home it started happening again, so I had my gf record it and sent video to dealer with my two-cents about changing steering wheel with references to this thread. I was told they have to reach out to Porsche for approval since they could not replicate the problem - it's been a week since they reached out to Porsche and no word. I'm surprised Porsche doesn't have this issue documented since it's affecting so many cars
