There is even a brand new LaF for sale in China as well, at over $4 million dollars MSRP.

Porsche in China is actually run by several major dealers, split between different regions. This, along with the high margins that the other manufacturers are charging (eg. BMW, Mercedes, Bentley, Ferrari and etc), it has created this huge demand for grey imports.

Put it this way, if the price difference between an official import car and a grey import car is about 5%, why wouldn't you get the official car with the full factory warranty? Of course you would. But what if the price difference is now 30-35%? Would that make you think twice about purchasing an official import?
Supply and demand my friend, supply and demand. They maybe artificially manipulated but guaranteed it is the ruling force. My main point is if Porsche has anything to do with it the supply to Asia will not include allocations to the USA.

I think they will make enough cars, they make no money selling you nothing. Also keep in mind that as the price goes up the number of buyers drops

Precisely n + 1, where n is the number of allocations available.

but one or more of those +1 guys is either out of the country, working and too busy to order a car, or getting divorced so the number should be just right
( I don't even want to mention the guys excited by the latest shiny new thing, who are buying a mclaren, Ford GT or NSX instead)

what about cost of ownership?

1. not brand new car (like my GT3)
2. i don't know ownership cost of Ferrari vs Porsche
right now i'm paying to State farm around $350 , and since my car new there is no maintenance at all for the next year."

My local dealer has a lease deal on a 500 mile 12C for $2500/month. I think it's a McLaren offer to move the 12C demos dealers are stuck with. Pretty good deal on a car with full warranty etc.

Macs have horrible (probably the worst) resale value of most exotics. If you're looking to drop $200k, hell wait for the Sports Series coming out and grab one for $50k off probably. I wouldn't touch a 458 right now, but if you really want one, get one with some warranty left and maint included included for 7 years (those would be 2012's or later).

Buy a used 12C spyder. Fun car and freaking fast. The 458 sound is intoxicating and the market is flooded with them right now. Agree with buying one with warranty left or extended.

Why did you sell the 458? I remember you bought a yellow 458 just a few months ago. Just curious.
