I don't think it would bother anyone...you only need to move it to the D position at the beginning of the drive and put it back in P at the end. Then tell your friends you've been on a sporty drive and you felt like Ayrton Senna with no skill, but shifting just as well.

^hahaha! My was point is that the lever is really no longer a "lever" as its a drive by wire system. I could understand it if it had a mechanical link. It just appears too bulky to me and somewhat overkill for a DCT car. Straight out of Audi's parts bin.

Do you guys ever get bored coming here every day just to bash auto transmissions? I'm sure everyone in this forum appreciates you reminding us that you aren't fond of them.

And Kosmo was making a point about its functionality, which he explained above.

The new R8 above looks good. They needed to refresh it as well as the interior, which was outdated. The V10 plus should b pretty sweet. If they were smart the would keep the gated manual, as an option, because they would sell more than you would think. The R8 have a nice niche of a market. It is a luxury sports car. It is not a GT3 nor a 458/488. When it was first introduced, the market they were going after was the Mercedes SL500/550 market. Offering similar luxury in a more sporty package. To me it is a luxury sports car. It fills a nice market and I am looking forward to seeing it live

I don't really like the hole in the center console. It does not look uniform at all. Also, I agree that the shifter look terrible. The exterior has not improved much imo. I prefer the look of the previous gen R8 GT.

I always hated that hole and have no clue why they carried that over. The engine and interior (especially dash) will be great to see in person.

Curious as to how much weight they took out.
Also, if they made a manual, rear drive only car,.........I can dream.

I dig this.
NA Engine? Check
Updated interior? Check
Updated tech? Check
RWD? Life is all about compromises.
I may have found my next car (after I'm done with the GT3).

I hate to say this but I'm up in the air on whether I get a 2016 r8 or the gt3 RS. Both will be around 180k I'm guessing (I'd get the v10 plus). I'm number one on both of the lists.
Two totally different cars but damn it looks like it will be good. I have owned an r8 and a gallardo and they were okay compared to my 991 gt3. Just drove the Huracan and fell in love but 300k is too much for me. Too bad I can't afford both.

Now is Audi saying the R8 is going to be rear drive only unlike the current model?
I like the side blades much better in the new model than the first model. But it looks like an evolution to the previous model. Like what Porsche does with it's models. Just updates the looks and performance!
