I simply connected the battery tender leads to the easily accessible battery located in the frunck on my 2009 C2S.

Upon getting my GT3 home, the arrangement is not the same. No battery was visible up front. I am short the owners manual for now as the dealer had to order one.

#1: Where is the battery?
#2: What is the best way to connect a battery tender?

There is a cover. Towards the front end closer to the front end of the car...there are two places you can stick your fingers in front of the circular strut tops. Pull both sides up till it in unclips and slide the cover towards you and lift out.

The second pic shows the cover pull points. There is a quick release plug in the pic.

I connected my Battery Tender Plus like I did in my 09 C2S. Use the battery leads, but you will need to clip the connectors. The biggest negative for me, is in my old car, the Tender plugged in on drivers side, so I always noticed it before starting the car. Now, due to the lead needing to feed out of the cover, it is too short, and must go out the passenger side. Not as easy to remember.

My regular porsche brand tender for 12V battery doesn't work on the GT3. Do you know why?

Because it is the cheap version of the CTek charger that does not have the snowflake option for AGM battery.

What is the advantage of connecting to the battery directly as opposed to the cigarette lighter?

Never understood why one would need/want to connect to the battery directly. Would love to be educated.

Thanks for the help. If I had been slightly more adventurous taking off the plastic trim cover I would have not had to waste everybody's time.
After a 10 hour drive getting it home, it was late and I was too tired to experiment.

Doesn't matter. I have an AGM battery in my 991 GTS and the Porsche branded maintainer works just fine. I use it through the 12V socket in right footwell. If you read the specs on the CTEK 3300, I don't think you will find any significant difference in the snowflake mode and regular mode.

Why I need/want to connect to the battery directly? Main reason: My Ctek 3300 didn't come with the cigarette lighter connector. It came with the direct connect eyelets. I connect it directly to the battery when I store the car for the winter months, then disconnect it in March. I don't have to charge the battery from mid-March to late Novermber because I drive it almost every day. And during those months I use the Ctek to charge my lawn tractor battery via the spring clips.

There's not a need, but for some it's more convenient. I take my car cover out of the frunk and while there I plug up to the connector on the cable that's attached to the battery. I don't have to get into and out of the cabin or close the door on the cord. My charger is mounted on the wall next to the car so I don't have to drag it around and the charger cable reaches the frunk easily; it wouldn't reach all the way to the cigarette lighter.

No need, just convenience.....for me.

Other than Ctek tells you to use that mode for AGM batteries. I'm not sure of the difference, but there is one.
