GT3 values, and Chris Harris speaks marketplace
With a 991 GT3 owner in the UK being offered UKP 150,000 (US$225k and representing 50% over MSRP) for his car by a dealer, GT3 (all variants) values there are going through the roof. I wonder how much of it is relevant to the US?
The following article by Chris Harris and posted a couple of days ago provides for interesting reading. https://grrc.goodwood.com/road/news/...911-gt3-values |
I didnt read the article but is he sore for selling his 4.0 early?
|
He's not sore...but I'm sure deep down he is kicking himself.

My previous 10 GT3 may prove to be worth more in the future. However, in the present I am enjoying my 991 GT3 more.

I never look out the review mirror in life but only the windshield. And this applies to my GT3. Not worried about who is behind me but who I need to pass in front - except for the police who have nailed me twice since Aug -but no tickets

As usual, interesting Harris material. Thank you for posting. It will be fascinating to watch what happens to the 996/7 GT3 markets if PAG puts a stick back in a future 3. I still think that's a decent-sized *if*, but Harris is generally pretty good with his predictions.

i could not disagree more with Mr Harris
there was just an Era turnaround in Porsche from Air to Water cooled Engines the next Era turnaround is very close from Fuel to Electric/hybrid Engines with the 992 expected 2019 2020 not far uh? the rest in between in the Water cooled Era with manual with pdk with tiptronic and whateverelse is a MINOR difference not and Not an ERA Turnaround as Mr Chris Harris is trying to sell! at the end manual gearbox is mechanical and PDK S is mechanical stuff either if controlled electronically (isn t Mr Harris 997 controlled electronically as well or when disabling TC ESP stuff he thinks to shutdown all the electronically controlled systems in the car and engine??) so expext 991 GT3 and 991 GT3 RS in March 15(probably) to be simply the Zenith or the Maximum Evolution of any Water cooled Engine Porsche ever produced regardless the mechanical PDK S or even an eventual and useless by user experience manual gearbox for ppl missing smthing to touch time by time.... consider also tha 991 GT3 Engine is not only the Best Water cooled Engine ever produced before the Big Electric Era but it has also been produced in much much less number compared to any primitive 997 GT3 GT3 RS tentative before the 991GT3 perfection I bet on 991 GT3 as an investement more attractive |

I think it will definitely hurt 996/997 GT3 values if future GT3's have stick and NA motor. If they continue to improve electric steering (or use Cup-style electro-hydraulic steering) in the future that will also impact the value of the old cars negatively.

If GT3s in the UK are going for those prices we may get to see LH drives over from Europe and even the U.S. going to the UK (barring any UK regs that prevent so). That will cool down the UK market but may heat up other markets. At the end of the day it all comes down to the old demand/supply curve. Sounds to me that 50% has to be a market pricing abnormality that should be corrected quite soon.

^ in the UK imported lhd cars just don't carry the same amount of value as rhd. There are exceptions and they are mainly if rhd versions have never been produced etc. GT3's don't fall into that category. I state this from the perspective of an ex-Londoner.
