Default ENGINE CONTROL FAULT

Started her up this morning and got this message before I pulled out of the garage. It further says Consult a workshop Driving permitted. The service department said its just an engine warning light that the computer will diagnose and not to worry, it's ok to drive. I ,made an appointment for Mon. 8am. I don't know but it seems like the '015 has a few issues that need sorting out. Who knows, maybe the car needs more refinement, more time to get right. It's a great car but frustrating at times.

Did you try to turn off the car and restart and see if the error goes away?

Let us know what dealer says--how many miles do you have on her?

Default Engine Control Fault

I tried the restart routine twice, no luck. I have 2400 miles no track no craziness.

I would turn off lock the car unlock and open door close door lock unlock open door close door for 3times at least and try if warning goes away.
If it stays it needs service

Just switch off, lock the car and leave it overnight, it should clear in the morning. if not then you have a reoccurring fault only the dealer can diagnose. Good luck

Likely some kind of a sensor that went off. Sometimes certain fuel mixtures, opening the fuel cap while the car is on, etc can trigger these. This happened to me with my last 997.2 GTS, had to drive it through town a bit and it cleared. Wondering if you have actually driven it around a bit or not.

I had the same thing happen a few weeks back. After shutting everything down and letting her sit for 5 minutes, everything started back up fine and I haven't had the issue again. SamfromTX suggested it was a mis-fire, and I tend to agree because right before I got the fault, the exhaust was making some very guttural noises.

Got this "Engine control fault. Consult a garage. Driving permitted" message on track today after my very first fast lap. Then immediately after this came "Reduced power. Driving permitted. Consult a garage" and power was reduced to VW Golf level.

Restart, locking-unlocking - nothing helps. Once I go close to 9K RPM, I get reduced power mesage.

Had to drive back home. Track day ended at the very beginning. Very frustrating. Let's see what dealer says at Monday.

Ouch--sorry to hear. Will be interested in service comments.

Had this in my 991. Turned out to be a mis-fire on 2 cylinders. Happened one more time and went away.

It's so frustrating. I had zero car reliability problems with 997.2 TT, absolute zero. Lots of track days, lots of very aggressive driving and also lots of very stupid driving. 100% reliable all the time.

I expected GT3 to be track perfection. But within a very first week of ownership i faced stupid "oil level check not available" issue and now THIS. damn.
