ENGINE CONTROL FAULT
#31
Car drove fine at lower revs like you mentioned.

Damn. Could be a coil or bad plug but mine was an engine replacement.
#34
What about that makes you think engine needs replacement??

New engine on the way from Germany. I'm thinking of going to 5w-50 Mobil 1 oil with this next motor.

Had same issue at HMSR on the last session on Saturday (6/13)... on the warm up lap, I hit 8800 RPMS at the time. Threw the code, reduce engine power, etc... I cycled the ignition and the code went away, went back on the track, same thing happened. After that the code would not go away. Prior to the issue I noticed that my exhaust was a little louder than normal; I thought that might be the sport exhaust canister was failing - this had happened to me on a 2010 GT3 I had. Well it turned out to be the passenger side catalytic converted. It melted and destroyed itself from within - caused several codes to be thrown including misfires. The dealer replaced the converter and took her home over night and ran her hard with no more problems. Unfortunately I don't have any more track events until September, when I have 4 events ending in December... crossing my fingers that was all the problem was - a defective converter!

I see a bit of a pattern developing here. Clearly there is SOME misfire-related issue at high RPM on many cars.

I had the same issue come up for me at The Glen. Above 8000RPM it kicked into limp mode. Error code 0304--misfire cylinder 4. Dealer dropped engine out and found grooving on intake camshaft for cylinder 5 and wear on others. (8000miles on the '14 since last September).
New engine on the way from Germany. I'm thinking of going to 5w-50 Mobil 1 oil with this next motor.

ENGINE CONTROL FAULT
Just had my 12,000 service, new plugs, oil change, brake fluid replaced and new tires (my 4th set) done yesterday. Started car this morning and same warning came up, very rough at low RPMs. The engine did much better at 3-4K rpm. Drove it to dealer and they diagnosed an ignition coil shorted out causing a misfire. Going to pick up. Hopefully this is not a recurring theme.
Mine is a 2014 with a new engine. I have 15 track days, 1,400 track miles.
