Any Pennsylvania GT3 or GT3RS owners interested in a harness bar?
I’m trying to locate a 991.x GT3 or GT3RS owner near Pennsylvania that would be willing to lend their car for a week or two to have a custom harness bar designed and fab’d for the car.
As many know, there are plenty of “roll bar” options out there (all of which require cutting of the GT3-embroidered carpet), but there are no
simpler harness bars out there for these cars.
If you’re like me and just want a clean, unobtrusive harness bar for occasional track days that won’t restrict storage on the rear shelf, and you’re near Pennsylvania, then how’s your chance to help out the 991 GT3 community!
Please PM me if interested. Thanks!

GMG sells a harness bar... it does require cutting of the carpet.

Agreed, if anyone in Pennsylvania area, would be willing to take.1 or .2 991 to Brey Krause, they'll get a free harness bar, that will install without any cutting of panels or carpet, and then Brey Krause will offer a retail version for our cars.

I love my GMG harness bar, maybe not a full roll bar, but unless it is tied back into the front of the car and over/around the driver, none of the available "roll bars" are real bars , I guess they all just mimic one. Good luck with your "bar" develpment.
What would you use the rear shelf for?

quote: Yes, and their bar is huge and tries to mimic a roll-bar look (pic below).

Anyone care to comment on what I was told at my track - which is that WITHOUT a full cage, do not use a 5-point harness with only a harness bar. I have a harness bar in a track car I own - with belts installed, and everyone at my track says I cannot use it - because if there is a crash and fire, and car is upside down', there would be no time to cut driver out of belts, versus a 3 point where driver can slide out or be pulled out.

- 3 point, helmet , add Simpson hybrid harness to reduce head bobble.. although body is going to be moving around anyways in a 3 point, but least with simpson hybrid your neck is supported.
- 4/5/6 point, helmet with hans/simpson or similar a must otherwise neck takes all the energy via head bobble with your body strapped in tight in any impact.
- As above with at least half cage. Although with harness bar you have the benefit of a harness and hans but take on the the risk roof collapse in a rollover. The argument is you would then be better in a 3 point, as your body could move to one side in a roof collapse crush. The opposing argument is that in a roll over, your body moving erratically around with less constraint (in 3 point) would cause the serious injury well before the roof collapsed in any case, and the pillar strength these days is pretty good.
To be honest, I flip/flop on the harness argument.
Bu the hans or similar devise argument is pretty straight forward..

Its not so much side to side but that in a roll over with 3 points your body can bend forward at the waist allowing you to avoid a crushed in roof. A roll bar/cage provides extra reinforcement in case of a roll over. We're all adults but I wouldn't use harnesses without additional roll over protection.
