Did 1:45 last year @ Laguna right after rain let off, with plenty of water and sandy mud still on the track, which is not that far off from my dry times (1:38s), so the tires are pretty good. The tires were almost new with lots of tread though. Not as good in getting the water away as pilot super sports, but not too bad. The only thing I did not like at all was that rear aquaplanes easier than front, which makes for some surprise oversteer. But once you expect it, it's not that bad. I did spin (without leaving pavement) @ sonoma in rain with nannies on, so be careful.

Thanks guys. Sounds like the MPSC2 do just fine on a damp track as long as there isn't heavy rain or standing water.

I had the exact same thing with my Dunlops on the track - centre rib wore down past the marker on the outside edge in no time.

I spoke to a Dunlop tech at the 'ring and he confirmed they do need quite a bit more pressure than the Michelins.

Thanks for sharing. What pressures were you running on the Dunlop tires and what is your opinion on them compared to cup2? I was was running 34/36 hot pressures on Dunlop compared to 32/34 on cup2.

Interesting range of responses. FWIW, the 1st track day I took the car to with my local RMRPCA, at High Plains Raceway in April ranged from wet, to very wet. Personally I found the Cup2s, still fresh with decent tread, freakishly good in the wet. The car was capable of running with, even running down, two new 991 Twin Turbos that were out there at the same time. I was surprised at how well the tires, . . . . plus I think a good bit of credit would also have to go to ok the ABS etc systems, did in the wet & damp. My 2 cents FWIW, arbitraged via the Mexican Peso.

Took a closer look at the dunlops today. The center tread is totally washed away. These tires are done. After only 2 days. Bummer. They were good while they lasted. Gonna have my used front cup2s that have some life left in them mounted up front and keep the rear dunlops which are still good on

Yeah, it would explain why the car was under steering like mad at the end of the day

SHoulder isn't horrible Joe. Perhaps these wear better at stock camber?

My buddy has 991 gt3 that came from the factory with dunlops. Unfortunately, center tread wore out the same exact way and he was on bone stock alignment and ran lower pressures than I did.

Wow, that was a mighty expensive set of tires @ only 2 track days. Best to always have a spare set of Cup2s or Trofeos in the garage to avoid having to resort to the Dunlops. Thanks for posting your experience.

Tell me about it. I've got a new set of cup2s that just arrived today. I'm going to finish of this set of tires with front cup2 (3 track days worth) and rear dunlops (2 track days worth) next Friday.

Honestly, though, the dunlops were very fun and great tires while they lasted. For ME, I would rather run dunlop over trofeo any day.

My preference
cup2 > dunlop >> trofeoR

How'd you score your Cup2s in the end?

You were right. Had to call back in to tire rack for a friendly reminder and the tires arrived one day later. It seems that they can get them, but will only release one set a time.

FWIW, I ordered two sets of mpsc2 in the last 2.5 months (it's getting expensive), and both times they just showed up within a week without me doing anything else. So they seem reasonably available.
