Default Parking Brake Sets Automatically...Drives Me Nuts!

When I put my car in reverse and open the drivers door to back into a space the parking brake sets automatically. I have to press the brake pedal and release the parking brake in order to back into a spot. What was the thinking here? For a car that has crappy rear visibility and no backup camera, this is a real PIA. Anyone else bothered by this?

Oh yeah. Setting up for the winter was trying to line my wheels up on wood and carpet. Damned brake kept setting every time I opened the door to check things.

If you open the door just a teeny little bit, it will not engage. Real teeny little bit.

Perfect. I can let my trained mouse out to check next time :-)

Agreed. Extremely annoying. Many times I’ve opened the door to see what I’m backing into, only to be brake-jammed and then have to fight with the car to release the parking brake (close door, apply foot to brake, release e-brake with e-button, resume reversing blindly hoping you don’t hit something). Fortunately this is the worst complaint I have about the car.

It may drive you crazy but it is a real good safety feature. I know you all may not want to hear this but it is true

That's what I've done in the past with my other Porsche's in tight spots.

+1

One day it'll save you from something horrid, and you'll be thankful it existed as an annoyance to you now. I just deal with it, knowing this.

Sorry, the line for complaining about electric steering is around the other corner.

"Out to lunch" as in anyone who thinks the EM steering in the GT3 is truly lacking is out to lunch, or as in it wouldn't do any good to complain anyway?

Who backs up with the door open? I only thought old school Lamborghini owners did that?
