I just got the Bendpak HD-9 installed. It's a nice lift and seems to work well for my purposes. I can post pictures tomorrow of the lift and the modifications I needed to make to my garage door track and opener.

With some of these lifts, like the HD-9, it won't help with what I'd like it for, taking off the wheels and working on the brakes.

You have to buy the rolling jack adaptor or the bottle jack kit to lift the car off of the ramps.

I recommend a scissor jack for home garages if you don't need vertical storage. No posts in the way and it works well for everyday car tasks like brakes and wheel swaps. Plus they easily handle ultra low cars. Mine lifts my car up to about 72".

Have a Bendpak md6xp scissor jack. I have limited space and am about to build a tray in the floor so that it is level with the ground. No room for posts $1950

Wow, that looks perfect. It says that it has a lock at the top. Does it also lock along the way? I probably only have room to lift my car about 3ft.

If the lift is ALI/Etl certified it will have two locking mechanisms in each column.
some lifts out there have safety locks, but when you pull the lever to open them.....you literally have the lock open in your hand. There is no other lock to save you on some brands.

Nice set up Gleek. what height clearance did you need for HD-9?

I had ~125 inches to the relocated (higher) garage door and ~133 inches to the ceiling. Based on the cars I want in those two spaces, I figured I needed at least 120-121 inches minimum.

Given the shape of most cars, the max. height is generally in the middle of the car, so the space to the garage door is generally 60% to the rear of the lift (where the car starts to get lower in height. I didn't factor this in as I just used it as additional cushion. Interestingly enough, the part of the GT3 that comes nearest to the ceiling/door is the tail.

I have a spreadsheet evaluating different car configurations and a few different lifts. PM with your email if you want to see it.

EDIT: I forgot to note that if space is really tight, you actually need a few (~2-3 inches) more than your storage height in order for the lift to go above the manual locking point so it can go back down to rest on the locks.

How much room do you have to the ceiling?

Are the rails in the back half of where the four posts would be (so where the car starts to get lower)?

I think it should be fine as long as the other car is under 56-60 inches high or so.
