I picked up a can of plastidip earlier and popped off my washer nipples to give them a coat.

The plastidip goes on pretty easily. I'm not really stoked on how it looks though, and i'll probably have them painted. The caps come off pretty easily once you get the washer up.

Curious how easy are they to remove?

Both my cars have chrome washers and I wanted them painted the exterior color.

If you take a small screwdriver into the under side of the cover you can lift the washer up, it will come up about 5". Once its up there are a couple of tabs that keep the cover on, I tried to push the tabs in a little while wiggling it around until it breaks loose. To put it back on your just line it up and push down.

I think Black goes well with your car. But the Plastidip finish does look a little off!

If you wait between coats of plastidip, and apply evenly, It won't look like that. you can make it look perfectly smooth, that's just your first attempt. Peel It off and try again, you'll get better at it and it can look like paint

uhh, why would you do them black if your car is red?

There is enough black bits. The Porsche logo and gt3 is black on the back. The wheels can be painted black. Why not the washer.

If the black LEDs are not crazy expensive i'll be getting those when they come out.

Thanks for the tip! I'll practice on something else before I pop these off and try again. My first attempt I went too thick and I had a lot of bubbles coming through, maybe I was just applying layers too quickly.

Yup.. First layer very thin.. Wait for 20 min or so. Repeat until 3 coats but each one thin. Should work for you. Have fun with it

you can plastidip them to look like paint.
Red would be the best route...

The car I ordered had painted washers but I ended up with this one knowing it should be an easy change.

I apologize if this has been asked before. But has anyone done this with the black plastic front splitter or the black plastic side skirts/rockers?
