GT3 - Porsche stops accepting new orders
Hi my dealer just told me that GT3 cannot be ordered anymore
Just GT3 RS which indeed is Euro 50k more expensive
Be of your babies even more jelous
personally i bought 1 of the last brand new available on the market and i cant wait 2nd Jan to take my own at home (white metallic, clubsport 6 points red belts , led lights, etc.)
i guess the value of GT3 will now keep for ever ( at least for me :-) )

I have heard the same information. I am very thankful to have been able to get a allocation for a new one. I plan to keep this car for awhile and hope values hold which they should very very well.

Interesting info. Thanks. If true, so much for "Porsche will build this 991 GT3 for everybody who wants one". Those of us who have one are lucky indeed...

Just to clarify, do you mean any 991 GT3?
Or just the 2015 GT3?
Cuz there theoretically could be a 2016 GT3 (in either 991 or 991.2 guise), right?
While I think it's right to assume that no more 991 variants of the GT3 will be built post 2015, one never knows.
Sorry, the lawyer in me is peaking out.
I'll go away and stand in the corner now.

^^Don't do that, fair question, although my guess would be that they wouldn't be cutting off orders if they expected the 991.1 GT3 to continue into 2016, and to follow on with a 991.2 GT3 immediately would be a break with tradition.
Still, you're right, we don't have total clarity.

There will probably be another GT3 it's just when.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the RS.

As for the RS - they certainly will not build one for everyone who wants one.

The next GT3 will likely be a MY 2017 991.2.

I went to three NorCal dealers two weeks ago and all said they would not take a deposit on a GT3 as all the allocations have gone. They are referring to the 14/15 GT3 or 991.1. I guess no one knows for sure if there will be a 991.2?
I managed to secure one of the last allocations (I'd imagine) with a delivery date of 3/27/15 so the only 3's currently available are the highly loaded ones that were passed up earlier and at the dealers around here they're putting a mark up on them up to $25k (and they're getting it)!!

GT3 RS will be produced for few more than 200 lucky guys worldwide!! in 2015 and costing without any optional (roughly 200K) so is not for everyone
stopping now GT3 i guess is pure VW marketing , GTS with few optionals costs very close the GT3
and margin for them is MUCH higher on GTS , keeping the GT3 around would cannibalize the GTS market and make the GTS introduction a non sense
GT3 cost much lesss than Turbo and again margin on Turbo are higher and cannibalised by GT3
so GT3 is kicking VW in the ...(by modern margin perspective) against GTS and Turbos
never seen stopping a model to come back later during the same project life cycle
i don t imagine how GT3 step 2 with then what ? more hp? more down force? ops it s already here GT3 RS!!!
This makes any GT3 even more precious and do not forget that any of the next 991 (whichever name 992? in 2020?)
will have only turbocharged versions due more strict anti pollutions laws coming when she will be on market
again makes GT3 and the RS even more precious by many circumstances not because VW is Santa indeed...
keep your own very well...

Three Wheelin'
Have been thinking how they could do the 991.2 GT3, which presumably must be part of the plan.
From 997.1 to .2 the gain came from the displacement increase. Then gain with 991 came from completely new engine design with DFI etc. Plus RWS, PDKS.
So the easiest option for 991.2 is make it a 4.0. But where does that leave the .2 RS if the .1 is a 4.0 already?
Beyond that I can't see them investing in an engine that's so different to the turbos in the Carreras. But it might be possible if the current GT3 engine becomes the default for the race cars, which could give us a scenario similar to Metzger for a few more years.
But other than that we are looking at responsive turbos (like AMG, Macca, presumably 991.2 C2S) and eventually hybrid either coupled with even more peaky NA (like 918) or high boost turbo (like P1).
I like some of these scenarios more than others. Which would you prefer?

Fxz, thats exactly what i had in mind when i pulled the trigger on my GT3 that was waiting for love in the showroom. I dont like turbo and i dont like its price, GTS is awesome, but for that kind of $, GT3 was a no brainer. There are not many free lunches in the auto industry, but I think 991GT3 was a good buy, like 987Spyder and 997.2RS, but not RS4.0 territory just yet!

I honestly doubt that the RS is going to be as difficult as we think it is to order.
I mean they built 600 4.0s, and 918 units of the 918 spyder..
Why is it that we think that the 991RS's going to be more exclusive?
At the end of the day, porsche wants to sell just like any other car company..
Karim (wants to convince himself that he's getting his RS!!)
