I like the leather wheel and alcantera shifter on my 2014. But I'd have been ok with a leather shifter too. It's not as if there's no other leather in the car so that a leather shifter is completely out of place. FWIW, I wouldn't spend $700 on a replacement.

Agree, don't spend the $700. Yours looks great the way it is.

Do you really feel it's worth 7 bills? There's nothing wrong with the leather shifter in my eyes. That's my .02

I don't even understand why there's a shifter. How about a couple of buttons? Works for Ferrari, McLaren and Lambo and probably others .

Option for when hands are on turned wheel as paddles aren't attached to column like on ferrari. Also, symbolic gift to the manual lovers?

It's a nice natural resting place for your hand/wrist when fidgeting with the PCM or stereo.

I like the option to use the shifter. Porsche never should of attached it to the wheel. I would of preferred the paddles being fixed

Because everyone has a different preference, I wonder whether there is a way to design a paddle shift mechanism so it can either work "fixed" or "floating" depending on the driver's preference, mood or driving style at the moment.
