What If? $100K over guaranteed early delivery RS.
OK So, First, No I am not drunk and HELL NO I am not considering this. However, I have been to several PCA events in the past few weeks and this is a hot topic among those clamoring for an opportunity to genuinely own one of these. We all have our opinions and most of us seem to be in line with what WE would realistically do. So my goal here is to see what everyone's realistic thoughts are for those guys that are just going to have to have one and are willing to pay some substantial sum over. What's the number you think that if there was some crazy dealer with an allocation available and they offered it for this, Would they find a sucker?

I'll bet they could line a few up at $50k.

I was pretty surprised in talking to some folks what they seemed willing to do. I would bet there would be some takers at 50K. Porsche knows how to create demand, there is no doubt.

I can see a few that would in hopes that the value would sky rocket in the future.
I am not one to pay over sticker yet but then again I am not in that bracket to do so either.
But I can dream about the 10 car garage and a 1 bedroom attached

You guys are very lucky to get so many cars in the US. In the UK we have struggled to get even GT3s. Possibly due to emissions laws in the EU volume has been low?
Anyway looking at the price of 3.8 and 4.0 RS in the UK the 991 RS list price makes it the cheapest option.. And any of us getting one in the UK could probably sell it for double! As long as we don't drive it... But where would the fun in that be??

I wouldn't pay a nickle over MSRP, but I'm sure there are those who will.
Heck, one guy here paid $40k over for a 2014 GT3. He was extremely upset with the stop sale and made Porsche buy it back. It's now a lemon title car somewhere. And probably sold at or under MSRP the second time around!

There are plenty of people with more money than good sense. I wouldn't want to guess at how much extra someone would be willing to pay for an RS if you held one under the nose of the right buyer.

It's a car, if I don't get one, I buy something else. Paying $100k over means I have $100k less to spend on something else.
I'm a car obsessed person, rather than a Porsche obsessed person. If I was Porsche obsessed, I would look for something vintage in the $200k to $300k range instead and probably have much better appreciation long-term.

Talking the talk and actually putting your money where your mouth is are two totally different things.....

This wanting the latest/greatest/newest material good mentality has and will always be around. It just keeps moving along just like the next iPhone model.. On eBay for 2K the week of release and available on the shelf a few weeks later.
More driven by people than any clever marketing plan.
This niche for the RS isn't that big at all. How many do you think they'd even sell if they took unlimited orders for a year? A lot less than the regular GT3 I assume..

Rusnak Pasadena offered me #11 on the list with a $40k "market adjustment" and $10k deposit. No guarantee of an allocation, but being on that list would automatically put me on the '16 or '17 rs.
I'd imagine Porsche building and selling as many RS's as high as possible to extract every red-cent out of us. I don't think 500 will be the total run. Perhaps 500 in '15 and ? in '16. Why not a RS America with sequential shifter?
