California Legacy Plate Program
Just wanted to let anyone who is from California about the legacy plates. You can now preorder black plates with yellow letters. It seems the plates will be going into production by Jan 1, 2015. Check it out here.

I ordered mine months ago. It would have been better with black car with PCCB but should look pretty different even on a white with standard brakes.
Dan (got personalize plates for the first time for his first Porsche)

Cool. Thanks for the info!
I'm not sure which will look better on my inbound GT Silver GT3. But I plan to order the RS in Basalt Black. I think the black/yellow plates will definitely look best on that one.
As for the Oryx White 918, which one do you guys think would look best? Black plates or standard? I'm thinking black possibly...

If I had a blue, black, or yellow car, I'd be all over these. Or possibly another color if it had yellow PCCBs. But on white with red iron brakes, I think the regular California plates probably look best.

Yeah, I was thinking the same and wasn't sure until I saw a black license on a white GT3 whether or not it would look any good. It seems okay but, definitely a black or yellow would be ideal.

& 1. My car's white with black wheels and PCCBs. Usually I'm not looking to draw attention to the plate, but thinking the black with yellow plate might look sharp and kind of Porsche retro. Hmm..still thinking about it.

By the way, remember to obscure your plate info when posting pics or ask whoever takes a pic of your car with plates to do so.

Dan (personalized his plates but suggests being a bit private about it on the internets)

The black ones are the only ones going into production. You need at least 7500 preorders and the black yellow are the only ones that made it. I think they go with every color and they are novel most people won't know about it.

I think I might do this. Black will look good with all the black trim on a GR car and the yellow will pick up my PCCB's. According to the FAQ's on the DMV site it will be 9-12 months before you actually get the plates.

Do you have five cars? The problem is I don't know what car I will on and 9 to 12 months, so getting a personalized plate that reflects the car name is difficult. You need to have a current vehicle to put it on, so if you only have one vehicle you can only order one plate correct?

You can order as many as you like, you just have to have a car at the time when you pick it up (to assign to). So just make sure you have enough cars by the time you get the notice to pick up the plates.
