I think we can skip SCS - more fun to drive!

I was thinking the same. Plus, a little later in the morning for folks driving from further out is nice. So, let's set this for December 14, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Starbucks on Topanga and Ventura.

Please simply add your name to the list if you haven't already done so and wish to attend. And, if it rains like today, we will re-evaluate the route. I'm pretty sure a canyon run in the rain won't be as much fun as many of us can't drive sideways on wet road like Chris Harris. Thanks.

Dan (looks forward to seeing everyone there)

Anybody go to SCS today? I figured it would be empty with the pending Apocalypse (rain).

Look liked there were more than a couple 3s there:

as much as I'm a huge fan of, "One option is a 6:00 a.m. meet at Westfield Promenade for Super Car Sunday on December 14, 21 or 28, 2014 for an hour or two followed by a drive to RockStore for breakfast, cruise through Santa Monica Mountains, lunch at Neptune's net, drive back up PCH to take Latigo Canyon back to the valley would make for a nice morning and early afternoon drive. Another option is to skip the Super Car Sunday and meet at the Starbucks at Topanga Canyon and Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills a location I'm used to starting from that has parking and leaving at a more pleasant 9:00 a.m. start followed by a similar trip that would allow us to do this on a Saturday."

We are kinda asking for problems. Everyone and their brothers hit this stretch of road and there are a lot of idiots who ruin it for everybody- just look at youtube. At any rate, the police are in FULL EFFECT on these stretches. Everything from front plates, to modified exhaust, window tint, reckless driving, etc

I've usually found cops to be cool as long as we're cool. Most of us won't have plates because the cars are brand new. Most of us won't be doing much to our exhausts except perhaps SW bypass. I've run 30% tint on cars for decades without issues. So we should be good with all of that. The one thing you're absolutely correct about and we appreciate your pointing it out is cops have no tolerance for idiots or for reckless driving. And, we're glad to have that reminder. We will not be on a track or attending a DE and we should respect speed limits. And, we should be careful with our new toys and with our lives.

Yesterday was the anniversary of Paul Walker's death in a Carerra GT. It doesn't matter if the driver is a race car driver or if your car is classified a super car, tragedy can occur if care isn't taken when driving. We should expect smart enthusiasts who are mature enough to drive appropriately.

Thanks.

Dan (has never had an issue on a run by staying at or near speed limits)

HfM--you run 30 per cent all round with no problem?

Yep with one exception. I've gotten plenty of speeding tickets, usually beaten in court or by trial by declaration. But, generally never get tint citation.

The one exception was one time when a cop tried to arrest me for reckless driving. I had a Supervisor come to the scene because the cop was escalating the situation to an arrest. I was given a ticket for everything possible, speeding, exhaust, tinted windows, unsafe lane change and was told not to appeal the ticket in lieu of being arrested for reckless driving. After I appealed the ticket explaining what happened by trial by written declaration, the judge dismissed everything, including the tinted windows, and just gave me an unsafe lane change which was fair based upon my declaration.

I'm editing because I'm thinking my rear is darker than my sides so my sides might be lighter. But, I'm pretty sure it's 30 sides and darker rear window.

Dan (lawyers out of tickets but hasn't needed to in awhile - knock on wood)

You should have your windows down in the canyons anyway...only illegal on the front windows
