Default Still Smokin'?

I know this topic has been covered in the past. If your GT3 is a smoker, has the situation improved over time/miles? At 380 miles mine blows a cloud of white smoke on cold starts. I have kept the RPMs inline with break-in guidelines and I have not had to add oil since I picked her up (currently at 2nd green bar). I know this is a normal condition. Just curious if it approves over time.

This is what I noticed with my GT3. If I drive it daily or every other day, I dont see any smoke. If its parked for 4 or more days then the first start after that will puff out some white smoke.

It's part of the character of a Porsche flat 6, even the air cooled cars do it. All depends on where the valves land when you shut her down. One could say if it don't smoke you better worry

I could be wrong (and probably am as I don't even have a GT3 yet) but from what I understand some of the smoke at startup is weather/climate related.

It's been hit and miss on my P-cars. The .2 GT3 smoked almost every time, TT's never smoked, 997's(4S) couple never smoked and one did. This car has yet to smoke with 1600 miles on the clock

Some Porsches smoke, some do not, and some more than others'. My experience; now on my third Porsche(991 GT3), is do not sweat it. My Gt3 has smoked very little but certainly more in the first 800miles. If it sits for a week or so it will smoke more. So far, I think the 991 engine smokes less than previous generations but it is nothing atypical. My Audi R8 also smoked a little. So, I attribute it to these high performance engines.

Recent cars: 10 GT3 smoked at least every other start, 11 GTS never smoked, 09 Carrera S occasionally.

All three of my 911s will smoke if let to sit a few days. I will say though, the biggest cloud comes from the 991 GT3. If you drive them daily, none of them smoke.

The Mezger TT engines have drain back valves to stop oil from draining from tank back to engine sump. Mezger NA engines don't and are more likely to puff a little. Don't know yet if new dry sump engine will try to control drain back.

Pretty much what I have read previously. I was just curious if it gets better as parts wear in over time. I'm trying to stick to the break-in guidelines for the first 1K miles. Thanks all!

No more smoke with regular driving after the first couple of hundred miles.

Because you say that it's "white smoke", I suspect that it isn't smoke and what you see is condensed water vapor. Roughly 12% of a gasoline engine's exhaust is water vapor. When it's cold outside, the water vapor condenses and looks like white smoke. When it's warm outside, the water vapor disperses and you don't see it. Nothing to worry about here.
