OT: The "other, other, GT car": Corvette Z06 test drive reports

50k can buy a lot of fixed problems, and parts in general are much cheaper. Look, Im getting a gt3, but don't fool yourselves in to thinking its a better track car than the z06. I love the porsche because it's a much better all around car.

This is true, but it can't buy your time and frustration back for losing a weekend due to a dead lump of American bargain. My time is worth the premium, maybe yours isn't. That's why there are options out there.

Sure it can. Just follow it up with a vacation to Hawaii. You'll have plenty of money for the trip leftover. Also, I think you guys might be exaggerating the reliability issues of recent corvettes.... A lot. Porsches break down too. And when they do, they aren't eassy or cheap to fix.

No, GM sells CF replacement rotors for a small fraction of PCCB's. Not sure if they are losing money on it, but they are doing it. Check GM parts cost for ZR1 rotors from last generation (should be same as these, and maybe Z/28 too).

I'd add to that, GM though cost less there are also even cheaper alternatives then the OEM GM replacement. PCCB's are completely on their own smoking something level of cost.

I think if you shop around, you can get them for around $6k. I think that is less than 30% of PCCB replacements. BTW, GM rotors are identical to the rotors on CGT and Enzo, IIRC (which cost ALOT from Porsche and Ferrari).

$1000-1300 for rears (each)
so $3600-$4300 for all 4 corners..
camelcamelcamel.com---set your price alerts on amazon for (in this case) the above dollar amounts and wait for the alert, then buy!

I have a nearly stock 991 C2S (pagid yellows and girodisc rotors - rest showroom stock). New to rennlist and the sport. Did road atlanta for my second time with chin this year. second year in the hobby. For what it's worth, I am running 1.37s on pilot super sports. pushing a little harder into turn 1 and 6 I think I could get to 1.35. I have a video of my 1.37. With that said, I push pretty hard and have had an instructor from porsche driving school who lives in atlanta show me the ropes. Hoping to try for low 1.33 when I transitions to slicks next year. No cage. No harnesses so I haven't been willing to push much harder in my street car without feeling unsafe.
I am getting a new 991 gt3 in March. Going to add club sport like cage and harnesses. If the car is anything like they say and with the pilot sport cup 2s, I bet I can get get close to 1.30. Better? Who knows. Time and video proof forthcoming.

Three months ago I sold my 2014 c7 stingray with 7 MT with 3200 miles to make space for a 991gt3 which just arrived in port in davisville. The car was a great performance value and enjoyable as a DD. I tracked it 2x locally and did a 2 day level 2 Ron fellows spring mountain track course in May driving their z51s. The z51 needed too much track prep for my taste.
I mainly tracked my 07 gt3( 12x in 2014).
The z06 is a beast and probably will cost 100k all in. Looks like a stingray unless you look at scoops and wider fiberglass/plastic panels.
My 991gt3 is 141 the way I ordered it.
So for me the delta is 40k.
To me it is worth it. And my Porsche friends I have breakfast every Sunday morning at 7 am are supportive as well. I do need to return to them the gold chains they gave me when I got the vette a year ago. LOL
