Default Life after Swicthing from R8 to GT3?

My GT3 arrives in UK next 4 weeks, fab Xmas present.

I'm interested to learn how people are finding the GT3 in comparison to a R8 V10, a car I currently drive.

I fully understand it will be more hardcore, focussed etc, but in day to day terms how are your experiences?

Thanks guys.

I think there are quite a few others who are coming from V10 R8s. I drove that car on a few occasions i love that glorious engine but the R-tronic transmission is not my favorite.

Very different cars!
Mine is a convertible manual V10, it's more fun to drive on country roads when the weather is good and the top down. I prefer the engine note of the V10 on most occasions. It's the best GT car out there!
I like the GT3 better with aggressive driving and at high rpms. With the top up, it would be a toss up for most occasions. The GT3 to the track for sure.

I had a 2007 997 Turbo and then a 2011 R8 V10 Spyder and now a 991 GT3. Could care less about a convertible but the only reason I got the Spyder is I think it is so much better looking than the Coupe. The R8 has one of the best 6-speed Manuals on the market. The engine is vey smooth with excellent linear power delivery and it certainly got a lot of attention. But, attention is not important to me. Now - what I am about to say is splitting hairs because the R8 is an exceptional car. But, I found the R8 to be a little too heavy and not a fan of all wheel drive. I also found the steering a little numb and the car was just idiot proof and was not that challenging to drive. Now - all of what I said does not take away of what a great car the R8 is but the 991 GT3 just checks all the boxes for me. Just my $.02

Thanks Guys, that's the thoughts I'm anticipating having.

The R8 is a great GT car. The V10 engine is a joy (especially with the Larini exhaust) and a lovely place to spend time in. The steering is terrible, there is hardly any feel and that makes it difficult to drive near limit as always adjusting. Chassis okay but not that entertaining. But lovely package. Wish I could keep both but I'm sure GT3 will be a joy, I just need exhaust mod from what I read on here. Noise is a big part of the emotional experience, well in my eyes or ears or whatever !!

I've had limited time in the R8 but it was pretty easy to figure the car out. As was said previously it is pretty much perfect with no vices, which makes it a little boring for me. R8 Steering, yes a little numb where you will find the GT3 very communicative. One thing I really felt uncomfortable in the R8 was the intrusion of the wheel well to the drivers feet causing the left leg to have limited room for postioning. I like both legs to be equal for "length room."

If sound is important to you, the GT3 probably won't compete with the V10/Larini combo. I love the sound of a GT porsche, but the Larini stuff is insane. On the other hand, I wasn't ever impressed with the interior/finishing of the R8 versus what can be had with Porsche. If that's important to you, then maybe the GT will make up some of what it loses in the sound dept.

Buddy of mine used to have an R8 V10.

Had a chance to drive it around for a couple of days. Great car. My biggest issues were twofold (actually three, but "threefold" just sounds so stupid).

1. Sightlines, esp. rear and 3/4 rear
2. Cabin noise (systemic of most mid-engine car so not R8 specific)
3. Attention. Attracts it like flies on ****.

I drove one like that and loved it! One of the best modern cars I've ever driven (and I've driven a bunch of them). What a great gearbox that was - sad to see it gone in this generation.

Traded out of 14 R8 Plus. Very nice and reasonably capable track day car but a bit heavy even in Plus trim and tough to manage in slower corners on track. Long straights were fun.

Although no track time on GT3 yet, much sharper in every sense. Quicker steering, more nimble, more raw.

More fun.

Daytona road course in early December . Stay tuned.

Ill play along.

I had a v10 r8 mt6 that i traded for my 991 gt3 a year ago.
A year later Im back in a v10 r8 6mt.

The r8 with a manual trans and an exhaust is the best all around car out there.
Ive had coupes and spyders.

The gt3 is a better car on the track. Gt3 is faster. Better steering. Better interior.

The r8 still is a "funner" car to drive everyday, on the street.

Something about the comfort of that ride and the torque that brings fellows back.
