At 181K this is the most expensive US build Ive seen. My involvement in the Action Group means I have exposure to around 100 USA builds with costs and I cant seem to recall much over 165K.
IMO you have mostly luxury options for road not track use like everything leather, PCCB and then you have track features such as bucket seats. I think in the type of car you are building stick with the 18 or 4 way as it suits the car better.
If you wanted you could easily save 20K just by binning the PCCB, LED and the very expensive leather options you have chosen to make a more hard core GT3 as opposed to a luxury car.
As for the yellow wheel line. I bought some special factory 1 inch fabric tape in red for mine. Looks perfect and cost 7.99 for the roll (enough to do around 20 x GT3!). If you cant afford to drop 3200 on that then skip the whole GT3 thing and move on to the 458 Speciale...

Macca thanks for the advice on how to strip my build. The reason for all the leather and carbon fiber is that am planning on daily driving this car and it's nice to look at all that stuff while you are driving on the street, plus it doesn't really add any weight. The buckets I picked because they look unbelievable and I sat in them when I test drove the 918 and surprisingly they were quite comfortable and I'm not a small guy. I'm 6 feet tall, 210 lbs.
I'm not a track expert like a lot of people on this forum, I have been to the PSDS in Alabama and just came back from the Masters plus course. I am planning some light tracking with this car, probably some DE's. I know the consensus is steel breaks if you track, but I really like the idea of saving close to 40 lbs in unsprung mass, no or very little break dust and yellow calipers

And 15 months ago before I considered this car I was putting an order in for a Turbo S cabriolet and I had optioned that car to about 220K. So the way I look at it I'm not wasting 50k on options, I'm actually saving 35k. Atleast that's what I tell the wife
Anyways before hearing back from Melissa, I had called this guy on the other coast, DCT Motor Sports. I asked him what he can do on a 991 GT3 steering wheel. He sent me these pictures. I think they look really good and he gives you the option of alcantara, leather, CF or any combination there of. He also uses thicker foam and flattens the bottom a la Techart. All for about 1500. Take that Porsche Exclusive!!!

The flat bottom steering wheels are standard on Audi's RS cars. I suspect it is probably an easy swap from the "VW Corp" parts bin - same round airbag receptacle, etc.). My RS5 has the flat bottom wheel with the perforated leather cover, it is the best the steering wheel cover I have ever had and I have tried about every combination possible. There is a reason Audi has only put that perforated covering only on their highest performance line of cars (standard on RS cars).
