GT3 "alternative"
Just in case anyone is interested, I saw this car today and it might scratch an itch that some on here have vis a vis MT in the GT3. (photo 1, and BTW I have no affiliation to the seller.) It's essentially a C2S X51 with lots of mods. The car looks really great in person, checks the 5 lug box, and has a half cage, improved suspension, custom centre exhaust, and many other upgrades. It reportedly approaches the GT3 performance-wise, and did very well in the hands of a test driver on track. Pricing is on par with the GT3 in Canada (and possibly a bit less than a number of higher specced GT3s).
Here's an article on it: http://ca.autoblog.com/2014/10/24/20...t-specs-price/
And Pfaff Tuning's site: http://www.pfafftuning.com/view-used-inventory/
Oh and in case that's not quite what you were looking for, check out the stellar job they did on a yellow 12C (also on their website) which was parked right beside it in front of their showroom (photo 2).
And, noooo, I'm definitely not trying to open up pandora's MT vs PDK-S box by posting this.

170k more than a GT3 not sure why anyone would do that with less ponies. Thanks for sharing.

People spend GT3 money on C2Ss all the time and the general public is probably still being told the GT3 is uber rare and unobtainable without paying a significant premium....
I had one dealer tell me the stop sale was due to them making some improvements to the headlights and tail lights for '15...

^In Canadian dollars/pricing, it's close to a GT3, with essentially clubsport package and 5 lug wheels thrown in for track use. Even then it might only make sense for diehard manual transmission fans, who in the early days especially were distraught about losing that connection and losing an analog driving experience. No RWS, too. So, back to basics for someone who wanted that with a modern envelope. I agree with you, not necessarily ideal for the majority of customers. But probably a lot cheaper than fitting MT into a GT3.

Meh:
- Brakes don't appear to be upgraded
- PSS10 shocks, but other suspension components appear to be stock
- Aero not likely to be as well engineered as the GT3
- Some of the lap time and handling precision benefit is likely due to the
Trofeo R tires, which I suspect are a bit better than the MSPC2
- Steering feel unlikely to be as good as the GT3
- I don't understand having a 'half cage' with no harnesses
- 7MT 991 gearbox isn't the manual most people want
- Lol, not 'everyone' dislikes PDK
If I had to have a manual GT3, I'd be shopping for a 997.2 GT3 or RS at this point.
Btw, went to cars/coffee today and there were three 991 GT3's there - all white! Mine will be the (at least) 4th white one in the area.

You can spec out a GTS with Aero Kit, LED's, 18 ways, Leather etc. and come in a few thousand under a GT3. I did, $137k, and after I had it spec'd sat down with the sales manager to spec a GT3. In the end he told me I would lose what ever I saved on the GT3 in the first year depreciation. Of course the Mezger crowd thinks I lost my mind trading in my .2.

Suspension is different on the GT3 ....
I like a manual gearbox but this thing is amazing.

Easier and far cheaper to simply go with a GTS with aerokit cup at $118k. It would obviously still be a very different car but not a bad compromise if you want MT, 4 seats, sunroof, more ground clearance, etc.
