So weird. Everyone reporting in on their 2015 deliveries has Michelins. Am I that special?
The German soup **** said "No Michelin for you!"

I have not heard of anyone else getting the Dunlop tires. How do they feel thus far?

I've only put 80 miles on the baby. No rain.
But... They feel very very grippy. Without track driving it I would not be able to compare to the Michys. The cars at PSDS Barber all did fantastic on the Michelins. The Pirelli Pzeros on the turbo picked up clag easy and were a bit greasy when hot. But the Michelins felt the same lap after lap... Great!

I was at the dealer (Porsche of Plano) yesterday. They just got two cars in and both of them had Dunlops.

Interesting. I wonder why they changed a few to Dunlops. My car arrives in 30 days, dealer can't find what tires I have

I've done 2,500kms on the Michelins including a number of track days. Fantastic tyre with great grip, very progressive on the limit but found they take a while to come up to temp.

I've just changed them out for a new set of the dunlops for a Hillclimb event this weekend as I spoke with a number of the Motorsport tyre gurus out here and the dunlops are supposed to be a softer compound which will heat up quicker. In an ideal world uncut wet slicks would be best as that's what most of the front runners are using but there's limited scope in 20" sizing.

Have also purchased the Pirelli Trofeo R's and they are waiting to go on so will give these a go as well for a comparison of all three.

Dealer seemed just as curious why they had Dunlops and not Michelins.

This is odd, you would think Porsche would either go 100% Dunlop or 100% Michelins

Frequently, there is more than one tire option and it was/is never possible to chose which one until the car arrived. From the beginning, the GT3 was going to come with either tire but something mysterious happened with the Dunlops and they stopped supplying them, until now. What we are seeing is what should have happened from day one.

Unless shaved, the Pirelli DOT R compound tends to chunk when used on track, unless they've fixed that since last year.

According to Tire Rack the Dunlops have a lower tread wear rating. So they are softer. In theory they should be a little stickier. With a tread wear rating of 80 (vs. 180 for the Michelin Cups) they'll need to be replaced often too.

You can't compare tread-wear ratings between different manufacturers.
