Default Payment question

My car is at Port Davisville, and I've begun a conversation with my SA to prepare funds. I'm paying cash. I asked the SA if I could bring a cashiers check made out to me, and sign it over to them after inspection.
His reply is that they only take wire transfers from out of state clients.
Is it typical to require payment before inspection?

Scratches, dents, interior, mechanical abnormalities?

It would seem I'm stuck with repaired car, if I've already paid for it.

Your car went through an inspection process at the entrance port. Any issues like scratches, dings, etc. that were found are repaired at the port facility. You and your dealer will never know (unless they ask). The car will come in pristine.

Since the dealers are independent businesses, you will probably get 10 different "policies" from 10 different dealers.

I always inspect the car thoroughly prior to purchase. My last vehicle had a significant paint defect which resulted in a new car being provided. Your options are far more limited, once you own the car.

Even with a mechanic and paint meter you won't be able to tell sometimes.

The shop that I've been working with on my track car project found out the bumper had been repainted only after they pulled the factory one off to put on an aftermarket replacement.

Just wired the money before your bank's cut off time on the day you are planning to pick it up.

@ AC Satco Never burned. Sorry, my experience is different than yours and I respect that. I haven't found dealership personnel to always be the most observant nor thorough. The paint issue was completely missed by them in the example I cited before.

The last Porsche had the wrong wheels ordered and even that took some time to negotiate. Negotiating leverage is reduced after purchase is complete, always. Yes, even with a Porsche dealer.

In my particular case, my 2014 was in storage for 6 months so I want to make sure the tires, paint etc. are all in new condition. Then I will buy the car. I have just found dealers are incredibly motivated to make everything right before the final sale, and somewhat less so after when it becomes a warranty matter, with appearance items being handled differently dependent upon manufacturer. I wasn't interested in having my car repainted which was the initial solution proposed.

I am sure it will go perfectly well. I am usually able to have money wired quite rapidly, so you could inspect the car and then wire the funds. In some cases, a time specific wire can be requested as well. Alternatively, I am comfortable saying that even if funds were wired, but you hadn't signed the purchase paperwork yet- you could unwind the deal if something is wrong with the car. I wish you luck and there is no reason to think the car will be anything other than perfect.

Mine took a personal check after I had time to look the car over inside and out. I made sure to bring the wife's sunflower and daisy checks!

That's my experience too, personal checks are not a problem. The dealer can make a quick phone call to verify sufficient funds.

while issues are usually fixed at port, often they miss. I know from exp
if u have paint defect, u are out of luck after delivery
also, sometimes the car comes with wromg option. I know from experience
if my car had chrono, u know I would burn the dealership down.
I like to see the car, smell it, and touch it.
then local dealers, I just wrote them a personal chk. never had issues.

out of state dealers whom I havne t sea
t with I can understand. I will wofe the money on the spot. or if they bank woth one of my banks, a dorect transfer can be made. it's faster than wire. it's instataneous

not that u would do it. but the prob with personal chk amd cashiers chk is that the purchaser can call bank to cancel it. so having sufficient fund is no guarantee. it's a trust issue
