I'm in the same camp as FastLaneTurbo and Drifting on this. Not to put down the RS, it's perfect for track fans but for those of us that want the best NA performance for street, canyons and DD, the GT3 is perfect. If there were no GT3 and only a GT3 RS option, I'd buy a Turbo S instead.

Always has, always will.
Even automatic's who historically go worthless quickly.

I'm on the list since 2012, dealer says will know allocation soon.
I already spec-ed it; Java Orange or Mystery Purple.
reter, it's 180+ stop lying to ur self. I'm selling the vacation house, dumping gold, selling stock now

I want this car. But if it's over $200k, I can't justify it. I'd pay $190k for a stripper.

However, the biggest problem is finding an allocation for it (at MSRP).

Heresy on this forum for sure, but for 190-200K, I'd rather buy a lightly used 458 over a new RS.

130-140K makes sense for a GT3.

As you approach 200K, I ask, why not just buy a Ferrari?

Not that I want it to be a $200k car, but I strongly suspect the 991 GT3 RS > 458 Italia. Probably not the 458 Speciale, but that's not a $200k car.

I'm hoping the 991 GT3 RS will be a bargain, just like the 991 GT3 was (with a base of around $135k).

This all reminds me of a Frasier episode called "Door Jam" http://www.frasieronline.co.uk/episo...son10/ep11.htm:

Frasier and Cam Winston have swapped mailboxes but Frasier keeps getting Cam's mail by accident. He opens one of his letters and finds an invitation to a place called 'La Porte D'Argent', which neither he or Niles has heard of. He opens one of his letters and finds an invitation to a place called 'La Porte D'Argent', which neither he or Niles has heard of. There is however a phone number but it requires them to enter their six-digit access code. Thoroughly intrigued by this exclusive new place, they go down there but the receptionist won't even tell Frasier what 'La Porte D'Argent' actually is even though he has a valid invitation as Frasier's name isn't on the list. Thankfully, when Niles walks in Frasier calls him Cam Winston - whose name is on the list - so they discover that 'La Porte D'Argent' is an exclusive day spa and are just ecstatic about the service they receive. However, as they are about to pay, they see Senator Ogden going into an area with a gold door. The reservationist tells them that's the gold level, and they can't go in because they aren't on the gold level list.

Understandably, Frasier and Niles are angry that they can't get in and search their Rolodexes in the hope that someone can get them into the gold level. Thankfully, Roz is on hand to help them as Senator Ogden owes her a big favour. The gold level exceeds even Frasier and Niles' expectations but as they sit in the relaxation grotto, Frasier spies a platinum door. Niles is eager to go but can barely walk as he is wrapped up like a mummy but after an attendant tells them they can't go through that door, Frasier picks up his brother and the two of them fling open the platinum door and head to what they believe will be paradise - however it doesn't quite live up to their expectations......

The next level platinum door opens onto a blind alley with a bum living in it.

Classic- sometimes more is really less.

How many RS's do they usually produce and how many would be allocated for North America? Wouldn't nearly all 918 owner's be getting one? Since they have first dibs on any Porsche model, they don't have to deal with lists and allocations. That leaves even less for the rest of us.

If you have a 918 already why in the hell would you want an RS. There may be a few so they don't mess up their 918 on the track but the RS would seem like a big key down every time you got in it.

It seems obvious to me that anyone that has a 918 drives more than just a 918. They aren't going to drive the 918 everywhere. Again, it's a toy, an exclusive, rare, toy and I think 918 drivers will be excited to use their clout as owners to get what others can't.

In every head-to-head comparison, the GT3 is deemed just barely below the 458s. It is quite likely that the RS will close that very small gap, for 100k less than the cost of the Speciale.

Only Fiat on my radar is Speciale and the out-the-door delta will still be large.

I'm as liquid as its going to get. I prefer my own reality, it will be $16x,000K
And I been right so far.. What's the payment zero down for 84 months on $200K again?

And who'd support the single, lonely Specially running at the track anyway?

Supposed Mule times by Factory Driver's and not some shmuck from a magazine like Motortrend, Car and Track et al. Besides five seconds at the speeds that are generated by these cars is commendable - even if it is with an extra 25 BHP. I just want to get under the car and see how much different the suspension setup is for the RS!

As for the inlets on the rear quarter panels, is this just evolutionary to help the air push into Engines air filters? Who knows as of yet? I'm just hoping Porsche unveils the RS at the LA Auto Show. If it don't happen there it will be Geneva for sure!

When does Paris Auto Show go off?

The 'leaks' have just conditioned us to think a $180K base is now reasonable, last year it was treasonous. By next Summer there will be a line to buy them even with a $200K starting price. lol
