Default 2014 Steering wheel question

Question for you - if my build simply says "Sport Design Steering Wheel" for my 2014, was I supposed to get the Alcantara or Leather wheel? I was sure the Alcantara is the default unless you specify "Sport Design Steering Wheel in Leather"

I got the leather wheel ( the one I wanted, after I thought my order locked and I had specced the Alcantara) but I'm thinking Porsche messed up my order and I got really, really lucky.

Thoughts?

If you checked the box in the leather category for Sport Design Steering Wheel (Option 840) you get leather instead of Alcantara. Excellent choice.

Well, however it happened, I'm really glad I got the leather steering wheel! My build sheet does show option 840, and maybe I did spec it. But I don't think so. Can't imagine why I wouldn't remember something from 11 months ago!!

I don't know about you, but I often 'drink and spec', so I can easily imagine not remembering something like that.

By the way, congrats on the new car; looks sharp.

Vivian.

Spec first then drink...sleep, work if you have to and repeat. Until lock date. Simple !!

You checked the "leather" steering wheel option. I also did leather and I am very happy. I like alcantara also but I was thinking longer term and durability.

Only a smart move if I did it on purpose! But yeah I much prefer it for the maintenance and longevity aspects.

Great info. Changed my build. Sounds like for a DD, leather is the way to go.

Miss the feeling of Alcantara. looked perfect after 4 yr's on my 0.2

If anyone upgrades to leather after delivery and want to sell let me know.

I have alcantara on my 07 997.1gt3. After 7 years it has bobbled and lost most of its fuzz even tho very well cared for. My new 15 came with the option leather wheel and red stitching I love the look of the wheel but actually miss the feel of the alcantara. Either way you can't go wrong but if you are keeping the car. Leather is the long term choice I have ordered a new alcantara wheel and shift **** for my 997. The older ones just don't feel (right) anymore. Leather would be better

^Agree - Love the feel of alcantara but as long as you know it may need to replaced you can live with a piece of mind- But you can not go wrong with leather - will be very durable
