Default OT:2015 Z28 track car

I saw a snippet on TV today about the Chevy Z28 which appears to be a dedicated track car. Really equipped well. NO AC, just a radio. Real plain
on inside, some LS or LZ motor 505 hp, full front lip spoiler and added lip on rear spoiler. Looks almost like a NASCAR. $75K take it or leave it. One thing I found interesting is the rubber is 305 on the back, 305's on the front! OUCH!!!
Only option is adding the AC back with more speakers for the radio.
But if you want a plain track car this looks like a good option for the money.

Yea buddy... This is a great car, if not a little heavy. The 305 rubber in front probably makes up for some dynamic shortcomings.. Heavy lump out front causing understeer etc. But the magazines are giving it top Marques. Having driven a very basic camaro which had incredibly bad visibility and hopelessly large blind spots and a huge front end.. I don't understand how this big car lends itself to be tracked. But, what do I know..

I forgot Carbon Ceramic brakes too.
Yea its heavy, but the Z28 is 300 lbs less than the regular Camaro. But I agree at $75,000 why not go $10k more for the Z06?

several threads on this car around. I was at the local chevy store (nw Houston) looking at silverados and there were 3 z/28s on their lot. Think they were offering 1500 or so off the list. The 305 trofeos on the front looked huge. Really strange to see these cars among a sea of trucks.

Lots of threads on this car, even in this forum. I debated picking one up, but only wanted one new car at a time hence the GT3, which I think is a far more rounded, more capable car. But unlike the vette, an overachieving Z/28 I find attractive.

I still may get one.

For a better understanding what it's like to drive, watch this.

^If you want a "track" only car for $70,000 why not beat the heck out of this at that price. I heard for the street not very good

"Camaro Z/28 is Motor Trend’s 2014 Best Driver’s Car"

It's a great car and absolutely worth a test drive if you have the inclination. "Old school" drive-train with "new school" suspension and brakes.

Z06 will likely be fast, though amongst track rats the jury is still out on the supercharged motor and if/how much it will suffer from heat soak.

I grabbed a Z/28 and love it. It's great on decent asphalt. YMMV

triple, you've come to the Z/28 from porsches, right? Just curious what your impressions are about the size of the car, and whether you miss the precision/feel that porsches are known for.

z06 would be tempting if Everyone else in town didnt have a Vette. Even the women here drive vettes.
Just cant beat the 911

That car will probably kick the GT3's butt on long fast tracks...shorties like Limerock the GT3 eats Vette lunch, ime 5 years ago.

The ZO6 is serious. Superior performance at half the price. But, for the same reason I pick a GT3 over a GTR I'd skip on the Vette.

We're paying for build quality...

There is no doubt the Z06 will be an amazing car, one that will not only be a stupendous performer out of the box, but also a platform for the crazy guys that want even more hp (certainly not uncommon in TX). I also share in the sentiment that Vettes are very common. To GM's credit though, there aren't many opportunities to buy a car with a rich and award winning racing history coupled with modern and at times unique technology at a fully loaded price of less than $100k.

Now, I wonder how many Z06s will be wrecked within the first year. I remember the first year of the C6 Z06 with a number of folks who just didn't realize what a 505 hp rwd car was like to drive. I can only imagine a 650/650 rwd car that will be in the hands of a very diverse group.
