Let's say u in manual mode and coasting to a stop in 3rd gear. Does it stay in 3rd or defaults to 1st. Mike

So it does default to 1st gear on a stop? Always thought it stayed in gear in
manual mode. This is for PDK-s rt? Mike

Yes, and yes, but why would you want it to be in 3rd at a stop? Other than that, it stays in the gear you choose.

People say it stays in gear if chosen just want to correct that's not the case. It's still in auto default mode. It's truly not manual mode. Mike

If it didn't drop into first it would stall. It only does this when you are at a stop. Otherwise it stays in the gear you choose. It will bounce off the rev limiter. It also does not creep in first or reverse, so you have to be prepared as it can roll.

I'm not sure what you are getting at. With a manual do you leave it in third at a stop? I don't.

I use 3rd gear to check if my clutch is failing on a stop. If it stalls time to change. Mike

I haven't heard of any failures so who knows. It will probably give you a code, slippage, loud noises?... Since Porsche has done some extensive testing with consecutive launch control runs, I think it is pretty bomber. I can't remember the number of times, but it was far more than a normal clutch could take.

Yes, in the auto modes for sure. In manual mode it will probably still be in the gear you were in when you pulled the paddles until you are slowing nearly to a stop when it would downshift. I haven't actually tried this in paddle neutral so I'm not 100% sure. You guys are going to have lots of fun trying out some of the less common scenarios when you get your cars!

Nick (doubleurx) is right; there are a number of fault codes that the transmission will throw in the dash display to warn of gearbox problems or failure. FWIW, the clutches in the PDK box are supposed to be lifetime items.

Lifetime. Right, like gearbox oil but once tracked needs at least replaced every 12 days..
How do you replace gear oil in the 991?
