Dimming mirrors are great, when they work>
Problem is, the wing casts a shadow over the sensor so they don't work so well!
That was the issue for my 996 GT3 and the 991.1 GT3.

The key is to drive faster so you don't see any headlights, or get a bigger wing?

More seriously, I ALWAYS get the auto-dimming feature.

I have it on my GT4. For me anyway, it is mostly unnecessary. I will most likely hold off on getting it again.

Super annoying for me to drive the GT4 at night and get blinded by cars in the side view mirrors vs the rear view mirror that I have to keep flipping up and down. I would spec it.

Maybe this is an issue in the US with prevalence of big SUVs behind, but can't say this option has ever crossed my mind. Genuinely amazed that it's obviously important to some.

Where I live the roads are lumpy and hilly and so an SUV with xenons and I assume LED headlamps too, looks like they are flashing high beams at me when I'm riding in a car and they hit the uneven pavement.

On more than 1 occasion I've been temporarily blinded by an approaching SUV that has swiveling headlamps when they steer toward me to avoid a pothole or something. The only solution I see is to drive SUVs at night (you can't beat them so join them) or purchase some special glasses for night driving.

Never noticed the difference. Maybe because of tinted windows. Skipped it this time around

I guess I don't drive at night enough to notice it. Also, traffic patterns where I live may be different compared to where you are.

I specced mine with, but not sure if I would do it again if the wing already blocks light from cars behind you and/or mess with the sensors. That said, its not only the auto dimming rear view mirror you get with this option but also auto dimming side mirrors and the rain sensor so all in all a decent comfort option.
