People like to hate on Randy, but he's in stock cars with stock alignments for a few laps on any sort of day. And still it takes the best guys on hoosiers to get close to him. While he leaves time on the table most time. The Viper guys whine all of the time knowing most of them can't drive worth a lick........
Randy is a beast.
Has the 4.0 been timed there by him yet?

Qualifying is a little different. That's a one lap deal. Not repeatable over any length of time. Race times for that same weekend were closer to 1:31-1:32.

Nice pic! The 964 is not known to be "flyin" too often. When was that taken? I think it looked a lot better yesterday than that pic depicts.

For "unlimited" sound days, you either piggyback onto a race weekend and take in-between sessions (can be poor value and a logistics hassle) or pick a day when the event organizer pays the venue operator to pay the county for the "privilege" of going loud. It's a racket.

These are one lap deals too. Street cars on street tires for 3-5 laps tops, about the same as what you would do in qualifying. Fastest time is the one recorded. Nobody can run their absolute fastest lap over any length of time. This isn't racing as we are comparing to street cars. You aren't even going to get remotely clean laps at those lap times anyways in a DE, you will probably rarely get a clean lap period.

My purpose for posting times was to try to give the original poster the most comparable information I could find. I intentionally excluded qualifying times. In race qualifying, you set the car up for one lap exactly. That includes softer tires, possibly a different alignment, minimum weight, etc etc. They often even use cheater parts as scrutiny is generally less and the benefits of qualifying up front in a spec series are immeasurable. (Note: While softer tires may not be allowed, each race slick has one really fast lap in it, after which the grip is less. In qualifying, you get that one lap in during the session. If you have to run that same set of tires in the race, it won't still have that same super hot lap in it.)
When Motortrend or others take a street car to the track and do hot laps, they don't do any of that. While they are trying for the best lap they can muster, they drive the street car as is, set up to drive 1000s and 1000s of miles relatively trouble free, with tires that are intended to last a long time (they don't have one super hot lap in them). Very different from a qualifying setup that is designed solely for one fast lap.
