Default Does Option 840 Steering wheel have short paddle since?

This seems like the same sport wheel as in standard Carreras. I wonder is this one specific to the GT3 with shorter throws on the paddles (like the stock wheel) or does only the Alcantara one get that. I remember reading that the physical distance of the paddles is shorter on the GT3 (stock wheel).

I have the 840 option and, except for outward appearance, it's NOT the same wheel as is in the Carrera. In the GT3 it has the same short throw, firmer action paddles as the alcantera wheel.

I had originally planned to order the leather steering. My main reason to do so being that I get sweaty palms. But given that I have plans for performance and track driving with this vehicle my salesman gently guided me towards keeping the alcantara wheel to avoid a slippery steering situation (which I do encounter with my 458, and have just recently bought driving gloves). I prefer the leather look but like the grip of the alcantara better, but wouldn't want to be replacing the steering due to alcantara wearing out.

I track a lot in my RS and it has an alcantara wheel. I'm not sure what my detail guy does, but it still looks like new. The leather wheel is nice, but the alcantara wheel goes better in these cars, IMO.

I think the 840 option came with paddle delete and an extra pedal instead. Will double-check.

My current GT3 wheel is all matted up and i'm on my second one. At the track I always have on my AlpineStars so it isn't that.

I don't have sweaty hands but just assumed the alcantera wheel wouldn't look as good over the long haul. For the road, grip isn't an issue for me, and on track I use gloves so I went with the leather.

Leather here. Quality driving gloves give all the grip you need at the track with leather wheels, IMO. I don't have any experience with alcantera over the long haul...especially with the seats. I hope it lasts.

I got the alcantara wheel. It feels great! I really like it and it is definitely faster!

Getting a wheel recovered, and maybe adding the all-important red stripe at the top of the wheel is relatively inexpensive. If you like the Alcantar a wheel, just got it and then have it recovered once it wears out.

I have the alcantara wheel in my 997.1 GT3 as well as GT2 bucket; opted this time for leather wheel. Trying my best to keep both cars. Sold my C7 with leather wheel to make room. If paddle delete and third pedal option comes through that would be nice. Alcantara wheel in good shape after 22K miles BTW.
