If either one doesn't work out for me, I'll let everyone know.

No problem. I would call them ASAP.. I lost 2 allocations before finalizing mine.. dealers will try and sell the slot until you pay your deposit.

Out of curiosity, what made you choose your allocation over these others?

Great example of why you should never listen to the naysayers that say you'll never find an allocation. Laguna Dude comes late to the party and finds five allocations. Yeah, you can say it's partially a result of the engine debacle, but the allocation game has been the same with every GT3 right up to and including the 4.0.

Basic rule: pick up the phone and don't limit your search geographically.

^ wait a minute. I thought supply was going to be limited on the gt3 also. Doesn't Porsche/VW want to drive up exclusivity? Or limit supply because they're taking a loss for every GT3 built. /sarcasm

Now where are those RS rumors/dealer info about $500k MSRP?

As I've said before, the actual pool of people that want a car like this is relatively small. If you go off the microcosm of RL, you'd think everyone wants one. Not reality. Porsche is making as many as they think they can sell. That pool will dry up in February, just like they planned it. People that really want one, as long as they realize some leg work needs to be done, will get one.
