Thanks for the video -- truly impressive machine and driving skills.

Generalizations aside, the importance of an automated (sequential or dual clutch) box is optimal shifts dozens of times per lap without losing driver control or unsettling the car while transmitting 100% uninterrupted peak power and torque to the ground.

The Sabine video shows that even a no-holds-barred RS 3.8 loses too much out of every turn to even think about making it up under brakes and I having owned and tracked both, I have no shadow of a doubt the apex speeds of the 991 GT3 are equivalent or higher than the 997.2 RS. As others have noted, it's a foregone conclusion the humble 991 GT3 will, tire for tire, be ahead of the RS, even though the higher speeds and lesser dependence on upshifts of the ring will afford the RS an opportunity to do battle, I just don't see how it could stay ahead or even keep in contact.

^+1. This was quite perceptible to me on the track last fall with a 991 S Cab w/PDK. The driver was able to hold a much higher apex speed AND SHIFT MID CORNER without a wiggle. It was unbelievable. He should have spun... but he didn't. The GT3 will be even better...

Looking forward to seeing more 991 GT3s on the track...

Thanks for posting this video.

The new GT3 is definitely underrated in the HP department.
Unbelievable how you can hold the car traveling at those speeds in such a short time WHILE shifting. All I can say is WOW!
