To all of you affected by or in the vicinity of the magnitude-6.0 earthquake today in the Bay area, I want to send my sincerest wishes that you and your families are healthy and unharmed and get through this terrible event safely. I know there are quite of few of us RLers who live in the area, and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Be well, and if there is anything you need, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the thoughts, <3mph. We're located about 35 miles from the epicenter and it was a really strong jolt here, probably the strongest I've ever experienced, but no damage. Hanging lights and fans were swinging like crazy but amazingly nothing came down from the shelves. The dog was upstairs with us so after checking the gas lines, the first thing I did was go out to the garage to make sure nothing had fallen on the cars. Shows my priorities.
We were much luckier than some of the folks in Napa, which is where I grew up, actually. I hope any RLer's over there are ok.

My sister lives in Napa and she said it is a mess right now. Nobody hurt in the family, just lots of broken glass and things on the floor. Hopefully this one relieved enough stress to hold off the big one a little longer.
Glad all is well with you Mike.

LOL Mike. I would probably do the same thing.
6.0 is a good size but I survived the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and missed the bridge collapse by about 20 min. That one was 7.1. I am 90 miles from Napa but didn't feel anything.

I know how scarey those shakes can be. We get them frequently. Biggest yet was 7.2 a few years ago. Anyway Mike and others hope you are all well and no damage....

I wish the best for every one out there. My Wife and I have good friends there and we visit them often. They said they is still pretty shaken up but the house to the grunt of it. But, most importantly; every one okay

We are pretty close too (about 40 miles). It's the strongest quake I've felt since Northridge. I was 10 miles from that. Northridge was the scariest quake I've ever experienced by a factor of 10. This quake was a friendly reminder of just how unprepared we are. Going to assemble a real earthquake kit this week.
Hope all the rest nearby made it thru safely and without damage.

I was awake after a late night with some friends, was staring out the window onto the street when there was this strange rolling sensation. I live on telegraph hill in San Francisco... It's like this huge rock, so I'm thinking that this contributes to the minimal effect we had. Was my first earthquake, I'm ok if it's my last... I feet however that we got off really easy on this one.
