With a set of buckets sitting in my garage, you have my complete attention!

thx great news
Sam, I think ur labor hour is off
we dome this many times
remove oem seat 1 hour if u are slow
install gmg or similar bar 4 hours
for the moment, cut the oem shelf carpet. u can replace I'm figure with new shelf should u take bar our. u can cut floor carpet as a SLIT not a hole. it works. then push back after u take bar out in future. u won't see it. no need to replace entire carpet.
put new seats in one hire
coding say 2 hours

keep us posted

Sam, will the seats improve your track times in any significant way? For DD they are very uncomfortable. Not sure they are worth the cost and effort.

The only thing that doesn't work with the harness belt on is the seatbelt warning light/chime (not turned off). A little made in China piece does the trick. Someone posted a youtube video about painting the stitching red and that is my project for this weekend.
I didn't wait for the 991 bucket seats because 1-I'm impatient, 2-Had an off at TWS that scared me (neck still hurts), 3-Not sure when will a retrofit be available to buy and 4-The 991 buckets will undoubtedly be more expensive.

Very cool Sam. FWIW, a visit to the junkyard yielded this piece from a VW. I used it with the harness in my 997.2 Carrera with sport buckets, for the same reason you're using your pretty Chinese part.

Nice job, Sam. I love those damn seats. This might be my move as well, still contemplating. Suncoast?

Now that I think about it, I need a German part. Will google "junkyard Texas Dallas" this weekend.

That's one of the reasons I got this done. After my off at TWS and my neck hurting from bumpy mud/grass impact, I realized I MUST have a Hans, Bought one of their lightweight CF ones.

Local dealer. Was able to get a better price than Suncoast and even with tax (and no shipping), it was slightly cheaper. Plus, I try to support my dealership, gets me brownie points.

Default Fact Check....

Sam, I am a bit confused by your use of words in your postings on this thread. The 997-era 'gt2' sport bucket seats will 'fit' on any 991 or 981. That was never an issue. Whether the integrated thorax airbags will 'work' (meaning deploy as designed in case of an accident) has been the question ever since we learned that 991's imported & sold by PCNA could not be ordered with gt2-type bucket seats, even though it was available to ROW!

What is the 'fact' that you have established? Are you saying that the integrated thorax airbags are correctly connected to the 991's governing computers (e.g. in your '14 991 gt3) and will deploy in case of an accident?

If you have established the 'fact' that gt2 bucket seat's airbags will work in case of an accident on a 991, indeed that is a very positive development! If you haven't it, I don't see what 'progress' has been made on this important safety topic.

Saludos,
Eduardo
