I am not sure what to make of this
but this was reported today on RT. The source is solid and very credible. He lives in Spain.
One of the two 991GT3 owners I know of here, got his car back with the new engine and right when he grabbed the car this Monday to do a 1wk road trip along the Spanish-french coast along with other high end cars, the car's engine failed, lost the whole vacation, and his car is back in the shop awaiting yet another engine...
Apparently Porsche is arranging for a loaner for him.

I personally think there's not much going on as the information given is too broad.
The Spanish-french coast, whole vacation lost, other high end cars, road trips are all dramatic inserts. All we know is the engine failed.
How did it fail? we don't know. rod again? banana peel in the muffler? over revving? over lugging? There are tons of ways to do it. Lets wait and see if theres more info develops. This will be a fun adventure again. Maybe I'll get another nice check again.

The dealer shop made a vague reference to a piston. What is important to know is the engine will be replaced. Obviously a serious failure or Porsche will not be replacing the engine.
FWIW, he just reported another 991GT3 had engine issues and now is waiting to hear what the fix is if any.
Let's hope these are outliers. I don't want go through this again.

If I were porsche, I would fix it too. Gt3 folks got the red carpet so far to why stop now. They are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't.
Just like the gentlemen in the UK that got into an accident in the rain and porsche offered to make him a new one. Once can drawn a conclusion that the RWS must have caused the crash in the rain or at least people were eluding to it. I think Its good practice by porsche to treat customers this way.

I read the post also. Not enough details to draw meaningful conclusions. The potential for the con rod problem was known by Porsche months before the stop sale was forced upon management. There are no other short term time bombs. Long term? That's for all of us to find out.........

I understand that it's fun to post this stuff, but honestly, if I got wound up over every unsubstantiated post on the internet, I'd be huddled in a ball off in a corner somewhere.
There must be a 1000 GT3's out there by now. Statistically, it's likely even some of them with new engines are going to have a problem. If only 1% do, that's 10 cars. My car has a warranty; if something else happens, I'll be covered. Odds are, though, that nothing will happen so until it does I'm not going to waste the mental energy on the possibility.

Mike correct me if I am wrong but didn't we all say this when were read about the engine fires in Europe?
But I do agree I am not going to waste a lot of time on this other than to be aware of it. However, if this engine should fail they can have the car.
