Default Anyone Dyno'ed the new motor in the car yet?

Just asking if anyone has had a chance to see if the new motors are making more power than they did before. Most people report that by the "Seat of their pant's" that the motor feels more powerful and more responsive.

Don't forget, Porsche's don't loose the silly amount of power coming out of the transmission than most other performance cars with the Front Engine Rear Drive Configurations. So the car won't be loosing between 15%-20% like a Camaro Z28 will!

I haven't because I don't own a 991GT3,although I've tested other motors. One thing I've noticed about motors is that if you give them 12V they will spin one way and if you inverse polarity they will spin the other way.

What a trouble maker.

I agree.

Back to the subject : I think Tacet posed a very good question and it would be interesting to find out what power these cars are putting out.

438 BHP at the wheels, assuming an exact figure of 475 BHP from the factory that is roughly an 7.8% power loss through the drivetrain. Now is that possible, impossible or improbable? 488 BHP would put it closer to a 10% loss and if you want to apply the 15%-20% losses seen out of less effecient configurations that would make the output higher than 500 BHP. Still, just seems like there is too much VooDoo going on with Chassis Dyno.

Mustang dynos, just like any dyno can be calibrated for different readings. That said, Mustang & Dyna Dynamics are typically the heartbreakers giving lower results than Dynojets and Dynapaks. So really, the numbers generally do not mean much without a baseline of some sort with a known factor. It would be more informative if there were a list of stock cars dynoed on the same day.

As an example my old modified STI, with a guesstimated Hp of 450, put down 338 whp on a mustang, and 395 on a Dynojet.

From my personal observations - dynojet dynos tested at SAE yield 7-8% under manufacturer claimed hp for GT3s.

Need a 3.8RS, 4.0RS and 991 GT3 on SAME dyno SAME day
Then we will know a more accurate read on all 3 cars and the real difference in power

So then with a Porsche Drivetrain 7-8% is fair. Sounds about right to me from the numbers I've observed the past several years coming out of the PDK. Porsche has always done more with less through history. There's a lot more than just plainly making more power.

The Cayman and Boxster experience the same rate of loss?
